I guess he thinks that Smalling can cover there so why tax his minute brain any further by having to consider players outside of the usual suspects. The FA and England managers just seem to read the rags and base their selections on that. "Ooh! Look Keane is in the news! Thought he retired? Oh! He's English and not called Roy! I'll pick him."

This is one of the strangest football related stories that I can remember hearing, so bear with me.
Former West Ham and current Everton striker Enner Valencia played 82 minutes of Ecuador's 3-0 win over Chile.
He was then substituted, suffering from altitude sickness, due to the 2,782 metre elevation of the host's Olympic Stadium.
As he was being transported via buggy to a waiting ambulance, the local police gave chase, attempting to arrest him:
He apparently owes thousands in child support to his estranged wife for their five-year-old daughter.
His lawyer has since suggested that the police are no longer seeking his client.
Bloody weird.

He's still on West Ham's books I believe? Maybe, he was waiting for Boris Johnson to 'fix' things in his new, Foreign Secretary role? Sprinkle a little public money around - it solves all manner of little problems. He's rented West Ham an extra 30,000 fans until they get relegated.

It's like banging your head against a brickwall! England manager after England manager keep picking the same players time after time. Yet when they get the opportunity like this against poor opposition, they just seem to shrug their shoulders when an injury forces a withdrawal and say, "Meh! Stick with what we've got. Everybody else must be complete pants."
