I did like that Fulham do a Countdown conundrum for their half time entertainment. Odd club. Odd support.

Great win but having read the reports from the match and seeing also the highlights i must admit we were lucky yesterday. I suppose we would lose 9/10 times of a match like that, but luckily yesterday wasnt just Fulhams day. Those three points were very important for avoiding to slide in relegation battle but nothing else im a afraid. Althought the play off spot is only three points away im almost sure its out of our reach the way we play. If the teams like Fulham are running freely through our midfield and made chances after chances there must be a big problem in our playing system. JFH could be innocent of which he's been accused, but a tactical genius and superb football manager he is not. Winning or not but something still have to change.

Anyway that yesterdays win got a wide smile on my face and beating Fulham (who have beaten us embarrasingly time after time many times during recent years) made it extra! Have to also say, that even Foolham were very much top of us and could easily beat us on another day their both penaltys were very soft ones.

He just happened to be sitting next to me. He's a really nice bloke and he gave me some good advice about playing guitar. He didn't react at all when London Calling was played at half time.

Smithies could well of been motm as he played really well but flapped a bit for their goal. I said on here at half time that unless things changed tactically that we would get torn a new one and that looked to be the case when Fulham equalised in the 47th minute. As it turned out we rode our luck on a few occasions and at 1-1 we were still in the game. It may of sounded like Fulham were the dominant side but that was not always true. We had more attempts on target than they did and a greater proportion of the possession in the second half.

When Smith came on for Martin in the 56th minute Fulham changed their tactics for whatever reason. Smith seemed isolated and for most of the second half he was often 30 yards away from a team mate. This allowed us to push them back deeper, and with Henry and Luongo playing as a tighter pair in the middle we weren't getting punished through the middle like we were in the first half. When Fulham won the ball back they did so further away from our goal or out wide. This allowed us to recover with a better shape and with four centre backs on the pitch we dealt with the danger from their crosses.

Another significant factor in the second half was that Wszolek and Washington were playing wider and stretching their defence. With the introduction of Sylla for Polter and Shodipo for Wszolek early in the second half we had more pace and a greater presence up front. Fulham's left back Scott Malone had been run ragged by our flying Pole and couldn't deal with the fresh legs of Shodipo and was becoming more isolated as Fulham tired. It was this persistence down their left that created the room for Chery to cross for our winner late in the game.

A draw would have been a fair result but FFC despite having the better clear cut chances left their shooting boots at home. Some days you're the statue and others you're the pigeon. They didn't count on Sylla winning this :emoticon-0159-musicThriller:emoticon-0159-music ...

A big reason for us winning too was them taking off Cairney and Parker who both played very well. Henry looked half decent when there was no midfield to play against.

Yes that was what the BBC radio were saying about Parker anyway. Apparently they had to take him off due an injury, and we seemed much more in the game after that.

Thanks for the great report all but especially 999s, I felt I was there.
In fact I was in a field near a power station in a place near Repton and at 2 .30 I was watching a band call The Eskies (catch them they are amazing)..and a wave of happiness and contentment came over me, I realised I was having the best time ever (I am wondering if I am psychically linked to the team)..At the end of the set I went out into the torrential rain and I walked away from the crackling and sparking power cables until I got some stable signal to find out about what must have been an amazing match.....

I went back and had a few too many rhubarb ciders in celebration...I must be away more often..
Well done Rrrs, all the travelling fans and 999s for the report

I still hate the fact that JFH talks as if we actually played well and did something to win the match instead of getting lucky that Foolhan misfired all day as they peppered our goal down to the last minute. Yeah we hung on but it was more that Foolham didn't have great finishers.

While that's true, his substitutions all improved the team so he should get some credit for that. Fulham's subs made them worse.

Turning back the clock, you might have got some interesting musical advice if this chap had been sitting next to you.

Are you able to post that photo with Mick Jones here Nines?

After the exultation of yesterday, my more sober reflections this morning lead me to agree with you.
Generally speaking Fulham were better than us but there were some good spells when we were on top. More than a few of our payers displayed good skills - Chery, Washington, Wszolek, Smithies, Sylla, Shodipo and Hamalainen too.
We are still a team in evolution. Jimmy does not yet know who his best 11 is but I feel there is hope for next season as a team emerges.
I went to bed last night literally laughing out loud at what we did to them - for a change.

Really glad to see those highlights - we were certainly rather lucky on the day and you cannot lame Fulham for lack of effort, just woeful/unlucky finishing. On another day this match could easily have ended with a 5-2 Fulham scoreline.
