Changes was great whilst at Kings Market,never the same when it moved down Saville St.
When I lived on Holderness Rd in the 60's there was a Pools Corner in Witham - two big windows crammed full of things for young lads to look at, fishing rods, air rifles, catapults and other such goodies, my favourite shop.
Used to buy my airgun slugs and fishing licence from the one on Newland Ave. Bought my first airpistol from there it was called the Gat. Good place to buy snooker chalk as well.

He used to flog the Hull Daily Mail on a stand in town centre as well if memory serves me right?

Anyone remember Lionel who used to flog the Sportsmail round the pubs on a Saturday night? Lank greasy hair and a little bit simple. Nice bloke though.
I used to get in town on a Saturday night for 6ish straight in King Eddy as they opened early and read the Sports.
First time I had an artichoke was on a Buon Appetito Pizza (down Newbridge) in the 80a - probably the best pizza shop I've ever been to.
That said, Cosa Nostra was class too. Used to often get the Spicy Tomato Bread after a session in Crown.
Both pizza shops would be v. generous with garlic butter - used to blob it on (like a scoop of ice cream) both pre and post oven.
There seemed to be loads of big department stores in Hull when I was a kid, when I moved to West Parade in 67 me and my mates used town as our playground, there was a route from Spring Bank we took, Blaydons, Thornton Varleys, Edwin Davis, Coop, Carmichaels, Willis Ludlow and Hammonds.
I'm sure there's more than that though.

I've still got an old Luxman radio in perfect condition I bought from Pools on Newland.
It's a T-34 and even the light still works.
Take it away for £300, no haggling.

I'm sure they had one on Southcoates too (or maybe I'm just getting confused with that one).
Hated the way the shops back then would only get one copy of each film, took ****ing ages to get to see Karate Kid.

Southwell's... Emmanuel "Manny" Southwell was a mate of my dads from school. Cracked on that he was virtually giving us the suit.
And Sportscraft... Toy shop. Does anyone remember that?
Loved Pools Corner. Bought my first pair of football boots from there. Second hand with cork nail-in studs. They also sold odd studs. Then went up market with another pair from there in later life, moulded studs with a flash down the side of them. Also bought my first record player from there, box set thing, probably worth a fortune now.
Once found a fold -up tansad in a skip down Ella Street, fished it out, dusted it down and then put it in Pools Corner and I got £7 for it in no time !
