    Dare I? ;)

Bill Jones played for Liverpool and England. His grandson, Rob Jones, also played for Liverpool and was selected for England by the greatest manager of all time.

The example I have in mind the son (ie the middle one of the three) also played though not for England. Not necessarily football of course...

My thoughts as well, Dave. Just had a look on Cricinfo and both of Denis' sons had the second middle name Denis and so has Nick.

Comptons are a good shout and the right sport but neither of Denis's sons had what you'd call a first class career (3 and 7 games for Natal in total). The answer I had in mind included three UK cricket careers, though I'm happy to accept the above answer if you all think it's close enough!

If you were thinking of a different answer it's not fair to give it to me for being close, carry on folks! <ok>

The Tremletts? Maurice and Chris were both England international players. Chris' father Tim played for Hampshire

Does that include the 15 seconds or so it takes to get off the ground?

    No... :)

I think this must be either the second half of a 200m, in the 4 x 100m relay, in training or wind-assisted. I'm going to take a guess at the first one and say 9.49 seconds.

    Nope.
Your next answer needs to include a time...
