I'm not sure that I like the look on Liam's face just before leaving the dressing room. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

I don't like this Alvarez v Smith stuff. As the defending champ, it should be Smith v Alvarez. But I suppose it's all about promotion. I saw a clip where people were being interviewed in the US about this fight, and people like Mayweather's father had no idea who Liam Smith was. And he wasn't alone.

Much better effort by Smith in the second. Canelo bangs though.

Job done by Alvarez, great effort by Beefy, Alvarez just too good and too strong. Will we get to see Alvarez/GGG now?

Very brave effort by Beefy. As for Alvarez v GGG, I don't think it's coming any time soon Smoke. I think Golden Boy will want to see a little bit of aging in Golovkin before they meet him.

I agree. I'm not buying this what Canelo is saying that GGG turned down the fight, what sort of caveats were in the contract that they've failed to mention. GGG definitely doesn't strike me as the type to dodge anyone so if he's turned down a contract then I'd imagine that the terms will have been ridiculous.

If they can get it made I think GGG/Saunders might happen soon enough, GGG seems keen on it to attempt to unify the division. I think they'll probably want a warm up for Saunders first though he's been inactive for a while now.

I don't know what it is about Alvarez for me he just seems a bit of a hype job and I don't like the fact that whoever he fights they stack the cards in his favour usually (weight, location, date etc) all to suit canelo. He stepped up in class to fight mayweather and mayweather went up in weight for him. Canelo got schooled and made to look like a complete amateur. Then there's his fight with Erislandy Lara that doesn't sit comfortably with me, I thought he lost it and so did a lot of other people a lot more knowledgable than me. And I think since that fight Golden Boy have made sure everything has been stacked in his favour and I don't like that. If you're that good then fight anyone, anywhere. It's the one thing I have respect for Tyson Fury for, he doesn't give a ****, he just wants to fight anyone, anywhere because he genuinely believes he can beat anyone out there and that's how it should be.

I'm pretty sure Golden Boy don't want GGG just yet. I don't know how true it is, but there is plenty of news saying that Oscar reckons that GGG is only worth 10% of the purse due to Canelo being the major draw card. If that's the case, then it looks as though they are just offering **** money to make their decision to not fight, look good to the public. I think the only people buying it are the loyal Mexican fans. Frankly, I'm a Canelo fan and think he's second to only GGG, but I'm not buying the the Golden Boy bullshit. It's a straight duck as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think Billy Joe wants him either.

Well Liam Smith falls well below elite standard then after all. Canelo on the other hand looking every inch the champion. I thought that was very impressive last night from the Mexican. Don't think he lost a round did he, maybe one? Least it puts Joe Gallagher well back into his box, never seen a more dislikeable trainer in my life. I've no doubt in my mind Canelo would definitely give GGG the hardest fight he's had should it happen.

Surely Saunders v Eubank Jr is 100x more likely than Saunders v GGG. Hopefully he'd wipe Eubank's face all over the canvas!

Don't know if Eubank would take the Saunders fight, he's turned it down twice and now he's out injured and has vacated the British title that he wanted so much he turned down a world title fight for. Him and his dad are talking up like nothing else but when it comes to it they're just not taking the fights

Billy Joe probably won't be fighting anyone of note. It looks like he might be fighting a lower rated WBO opponent like Max Bursak or Artur Akavov. Nobody knows what game Saunders is playing seeing as he hasn't yet made that first defence, but you can bet your left nut that he won't be taking too many chances when it comes to an opponent.

It's definitely a strange one Cyc, he hasn't fought due to 'injury' and was supposed to return last night on the undercard but that didn't happen because Saunders apparently felt the opponent being offered wasn't worthy (a ridiculous excuse in boxing, if that's the case knock em out get paid move on). Saunders says he'd fight Eubank again but Eubank won't sign on for it and now he's yet again calling out GGG, whether he wants that or not is anyone's guess. What surprises me the most is that he's been allowed to hang on to his title for so long with so much inactivity. You'd think if he's fit again then he'd be forced into a defence or stripped.

****ing hate boxing politics, everyone should just fight everyone else (I know I'm living in a fantasy land). The best against the best, champion vs champion

The ironic thing the Eubanks have hugely gained from their shenanigans over the GGG fight/PRstunt (delete as appropriate) as now Jr is in the spotlight like never before and you can guarantee there'll be some demand for his next fight as we all tune in hoping to see him wake up with a crowd around him!

The annoying thing is he can actually now back up his crap in the ring, he's clearly a talented sort. I think his physicality alone would give GGG more of a headache than Brook could. In close quarters, Brook just didn't have the bulk to hold GGG but Jr could, and one thing I've really been impressed by him is his fighting in close, he has mastered hitting and holding opponents and I think he could use that against GGG to good effect. Of course GGG would beat him, but him aside, Jr mightn't be a million miles away from the rest. I personally think he destroys Saunders in a rematch, he's definitely a better fighter now.

I agree right up until your last sentence Beefy, even though I agree Eubank is a better fighter now I think Saunders still schools him in any rematch

Eubank Jr IMO is a Super Middleweight waiting to happen. He's a big puncher who loads up- he lacks a bit of subtlety against the slicker middleweights and it's why he lost a decision to Saunders earlier in their careers.

I think Golovkin would KO Eubank with a left hook. He (Eubank) really loads up and leaves himself wide open to the short left hook which Golovkin can deliver. Reminds me of Hatton when he used to throw that wide left hook himself that left him open against Mayweather.

Canelo v Golovkin should be the logical fight in the whole of boxing but Golden Boy won't risk their big name and Oscar is running scared. He's the big problem in this- not the fighters.

Sounds as if Golovkin was willing to come to London to take Eubank (until those two clowns negotiated themselves out of it and had to leave it to Kell Brook to find a pair of balls), so if Golovkin is willing to come to England against dangerous fighters, I should think that he would definitely take the Canelo fight. Canelo is the Mexican flag bearer at the moment with not quite so many others in reserve if he lost to a Golovkin.

Best thing people could do is not buy the tickets or PPV- that would force their hand.
