Think that's just about our best first team personally. Leave Watmore, Gooch & Rodwell on the bench.

Not got a good feeling about this one unfortunately.

That looks decent to me. Might be too soon for Catts. Don`t want him getting wrecked again by coming back too early. That`s the sort of stunt Bruce kept pulling. If he`s not ready then Pienaar but the same thing applies. If neither of those then Gooch though it will probably be Rodwell.

I admire folks stance on Rodwell. But for me, the sooner he is dropped, the better.

10m. Man.

This is our strongest line up. Although (and I recognise that this might cause a right flap on), I'd have Rodwell or Pienaar ahead of Cattermole.

Away against a very good side, there's nobody I'd rather have in than Catts from the players we have. Depends on his fitness though. Don't want to risk him and would be happy to keep Rodders in.

If he headed three off the line and scored the last minute winner some will still find a reason to criticise him for summat in the game. People just will see that he is our continuity player who gets a majority right but is left adrift by others. Khazri and others want shooting for their contribution to Everton's first goal.

  • But surely realism can be either positive or negative depending on the situation? For me it's down to two things, how reasonable the argument is, for example that **** about treating Rodwell like an academy kid sending the lad out of loan to the lower leagues when he's been improving, for me, was negative and completely unreasonable. Secondly how the person saying it tends to lean. (Be it usually over negative or over positive).
I agree. With every word. Think you're making my argument for me but probably wording it better. I never argue whether people are realistic or not whether positive or negative. Just that negative people who say they are "realistic" are normally insinuating that positive people aren't realistic.

Can't start Khazri on what I've seen of him so far. Just doesn't look bothered enough to me, Gooch for him and I'd take it

Cattermole is a good leader and his contribution when our backs against the wall is extremely valuable. Looking at the Squawka stats from last season though, Rodwell's are better (but only slightly) than Cattermole's, especially in defensive terms. Which just shows that, like you've said, the criticism of Rodwell is not really justified. I think perhaps Cattermole is a more visible defensive presence but Rodwell goes about his defensive work in a quieter manner. Maybe against Spurs we need that blood and thunder approach; I just prefer a more elegant footballer.

I agree but sometimes, you just need a back to the wall war hero. That's Catts. His will and desire is infectious, something Rodwell can't bring. We'd never win pretty tomorrow in a million years, but with the right attitude and heads we could get something ugly.

I hope Moyes is thinking the same way, then Gooch will start.
In all seriousness, mate. I hope he doesn't. For his sake, he needs a rest and games back in the youth team. We don't want him burning out and he needs time to evaluate his game, because he's very raw and not quite ready to be playing consistently. However, at the moment we haven't got many alternatives.

Very happy with our midfield now, I'm having trouble deciding the best 3 to play together out of Kirchhoff, NDong, Rodwell, Cattermole and Pienaar. That can only be a good thing.
