Has he Beth? Just my luck to miss them. Onouha is not a natural full back but he offers much more than Perch based on what I have seen.
Something strange happened with Perch. Last season he came to the club and struggled to adapt at first. Then he started putting in some decent performances. Then he put in some very good ones. Then the fans stopped using him as whipping boy. Then the season ended and there was a break between that and the new season. During that time everyone seemed to forget his improvements and again immediately used him as whipping boy when this season started. He can't really do much right.

In fact, I will straight-forwardly accuse QPR fans of this... almost every season they pick two or three players to hate on. Good performances are ignored and dodgy team performances get heaped on them largely. It almost doesn't matter what they do or how good they perform.

Take Henry, for example... there have been several very good performances in the last two seasons and pundits and professionals have praised him. Has the much praise come from the fans? No.

There's an element to modern day QPR "supporting" that I hate these days. How can a player flourish if he's booed, laughed at or slagged off all the time?

There's been some very nice stuff spoken by the QPR fans post match.
Fair play to your lads and lasses.
The result aside, I wish QPR well for the rest of the season.
We have a lot in common over the years player wise with Peacock x 2, Sir Les and now Perchy.
Now go beat those pesky Mackems please

Ned plays too central to be a good RB, he always drifts centrally, leaving the oppo left wing all the space in the world.
That happens in all the matches he plays in as RB#
That is my major criticism

You have a genuinely top class manager, you'll get better and better. Especially when he notices that most teams in this division are there for the taking, I'm sure you'll score six against a couple of other teams this year.

We, on the other hand, need to go away and have a long hard think about our behaviour. Perhaps on the naughty step. We have been cursed for years either by managers who can't explain clearly enough to players what they want or players too thick, talentless or lazy to deliver.

Newcastle's first three goals were all created down his flank on Tuesday night.

You're more than welcome to take Perch back. Amazing he's played in the Prem.

By stating that he is not as good as Onouha, in no way am I slagging him or hating on him. I have always encouraged our players and supported them and I definitely would never boo any player, or laugh at them. I think it is fair game for us fans to make observations and comments about individual player performances on message boards. That doesn't mean we are unsupportive at the games.

I so support Finglas on this...whole point of the forum, is to discuss these points ...we all see things differently and can comment accordingly. I have stated my view...Finglas and Col have an equally valid opposite view. I know all three of us are hugely supportive of what ever team players turn out for our team, on the day.
The comments on the board are how I learn....long may they continue

For the record I didn't mean that you are one of those fans. I'm just talking about that bad strain of fans we seem to have nowadays.

Oh come on. Laughing at SWP or Mackie is the only way to deal with the ball bouncing off their knee into touch.

I know you weren't talking about me personally but I also get your point about some of our fan base who do moan a lot at the games.

As an aside mate, I'm guessing you'll be at Croke Park this weekend?
I wish I was going Tooting but tickets are impossible to get. It should be a good game. Dublin are favourites but I think Mayo have a decent chance. I would like to see them win one as they haven't won an all Ireland since 1951.

QPR 0 Newcastle 6 (pummelled - a good adjective!)

Jonjo Shelvey has scored three goals in five Championship starts this season

Jonjo Shelvey scored twice as second-placed Newcastle pummelled QPR to earn a fifth consecutive Championship win.

Shelvey's deflected shot rewarded early Magpies dominance and, with the tone set, Ayoze Perez made it 2-0 with a low strike at the second attempt.

The third goal saw Shelvey find the back of the net without any assistance through a stunning 25-yard strike.

Ciaran Clark headed a fourth and close-range efforts by Aleksandar Mitrovic and Grant Hanley sealed the rout.

Newcastle's win - which takes them to within a point of leaders Huddersfield following their defeat at Brighton - was as stylish as it was emphatic and earned them a sixth victory in a row in all competitions.

Magpies flying after slow start
And it was even more impressive given the back-to-back defeats in their opening two fixtures of the season.

QPR were second best in midfield and devoid of ideas in attack, mustering just one shot on target before the break - and three in total.

Their cause was not helped by having ex-Magpies man James Perch taken off a stretcher but, by they that stage, they were already 1-0 down and being outplayed.

Perez had a goal ruled out offside before Shelvey's effort took a cruel deflection off Karl Henry to make it 1-0.

Ayoze Perez was instrumental in Newcastle's midfield dominance and also grabbed the second goal
Matt Ritchie and Shelvey then both had chances but it was the outstanding Perez who grabbed the second of the night when he calmly found the far corner after his initial effort was saved by goalkeeper Alex Smithies.

The hosts, who have still not managed a goal from open play this season, saw Steven Caulker head their best chance over the bar.

But Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez was able to relax almost immediately after the restart when Shelvey's sensational strike - the pick of the bunch - found the corner of the net.

Smithies also had to tip a Mitrovic header on to the bar but, after Clark headed number four from Ritchie's corner, Mitrovic made it 5-0 after good work by Christian Atsu.

Hanley's simple shot completed the scoring on a wretched evening for QPR, who slip to 13th in the table.

Shelvey did not start the first game of the season but Newcastle have won four of the five league games he has started since

We have scored from open play...................?!!!!

Sorry Col, strongly disagree here...Ned is no RB.
Perch is a better back..Perch has had some decent performance this season

Beth, I completely agree that Ned is no right back.

However, I maintain that he's our BEST right back.
Perch is awful imo.

The fact that we don't have a number two in our squad speaks volumes, whether we tried and failed to sign one in the transfer window I've no idea.
