Something strange happened with Perch. Last season he came to the club and struggled to adapt at first. Then he started putting in some decent performances. Then he put in some very good ones. Then the fans stopped using him as whipping boy. Then the season ended and there was a break between that and the new season. During that time everyone seemed to forget his improvements and again immediately used him as whipping boy when this season started. He can't really do much right. In fact, I will straight-forwardly accuse QPR fans of this... almost every season they pick two or three players to hate on. Good performances are ignored and dodgy team performances get heaped on them largely. It almost doesn't matter what they do or how good they perform. Take Henry, for example... there have been several very good performances in the last two seasons and pundits and professionals have praised him. Has the much praise come from the fans? No. There's an element to modern day QPR "supporting" that I hate these days. How can a player flourish if he's booed, laughed at or slagged off all the time?
There's been some very nice stuff spoken by the QPR fans post match. Fair play to your lads and lasses. The result aside, I wish QPR well for the rest of the season. We have a lot in common over the years player wise with Peacock x 2, Sir Les and now Perchy. Now go beat those pesky Mackems please
Ned plays too central to be a good RB, he always drifts centrally, leaving the oppo left wing all the space in the world. That happens in all the matches he plays in as RB# That is my major criticism
You have a genuinely top class manager, you'll get better and better. Especially when he notices that most teams in this division are there for the taking, I'm sure you'll score six against a couple of other teams this year. We, on the other hand, need to go away and have a long hard think about our behaviour. Perhaps on the naughty step. We have been cursed for years either by managers who can't explain clearly enough to players what they want or players too thick, talentless or lazy to deliver.
Perch has always been average on the right and much better when played on the left when he moved there midway though last season
By stating that he is not as good as Onouha, in no way am I slagging him or hating on him. I have always encouraged our players and supported them and I definitely would never boo any player, or laugh at them. I think it is fair game for us fans to make observations and comments about individual player performances on message boards. That doesn't mean we are unsupportive at the games.
I so support Finglas on this...whole point of the forum, is to discuss these points ...we all see things differently and can comment accordingly. I have stated my view...Finglas and Col have an equally valid opposite view. I know all three of us are hugely supportive of what ever team players turn out for our team, on the day. The comments on the board are how I learn....long may they continue
For the record I didn't mean that you are one of those fans. I'm just talking about that bad strain of fans we seem to have nowadays.
Oh come on. Laughing at SWP or Mackie is the only way to deal with the ball bouncing off their knee into touch.
I know you weren't talking about me personally but I also get your point about some of our fan base who do moan a lot at the games.
I wish I was going Tooting but tickets are impossible to get. It should be a good game. Dublin are favourites but I think Mayo have a decent chance. I would like to see them win one as they haven't won an all Ireland since 1951.
I would like to congratulate JFH for creating the longest match day thread of the season, other than that I would like to just say **** off!
Beth, I completely agree that Ned is no right back. However, I maintain that he's our BEST right back. Perch is awful imo.
The fact that we don't have a number two in our squad speaks volumes, whether we tried and failed to sign one in the transfer window I've no idea.
