gutted, to win the signed shirt i had a 3-1 win with Austin scoring first in the 7th minute, was it wrong that i was willing them to score in the last minutes?
I'll just say that Cuco played very well this evening. I was never sanguine that he might be allowed to leave. He has been perhaps a little naive as an RB, but [as a utility player who fills many positions] he has learned his craft, which means he has a football brain. It also means that he'll be a valued member of the squad. He's willing to learn and he always gives 100%. I think people might start to appreciate him a bit more.
Just got back (finally) from the game. My thoughts: - Sparta were terrible. I think today's result was as much them being awful as us being good. The real test comes on Sunday. - VVD is different gravy. - Cuco was really, really good. I didn't think he was up to it when he first signed, but I think he deserves a start over Cedric based on recent performances - Austin needs to work on his fitness - I didn't like the UEFA pre-match adverts on the big screen - Still not convinced this formation is the correct one for our players - Get in there Jay Rod! Buzzing for him, of all our strikers, he suits this formation the best. - Thought JWP had one of his best games for us. He's winning more physical battles. Now he just needs to work on his shooting Onwards and upwards!
I can't believe I had to read through pages and pages until someone posted this. He was awesome tonight.
I'm a bit pissed off with Shane Long. With 29 minutes and 57 seconds on the clock, he missed a golden chance with just the keeper to beat by trying to reach the ball with his right foot when he could have got it with his left. The score was 2-0 at the time...
Yes! Traffic was a doddle; quickest I've ever done a midweek game and Dave and I were in the pub early! Did you come in?
Weirdly Inter didn't register a lot of their newer players. Plus they have De Boer as manager who is ****.
Suggestion is they can't play most of their new players due to FFP. Spent too much money and would risk punishment from UEFA if they played them. Not sure if that's right but it would make sense.
I got in the car after the game and 5 live were doing the Athletics, so I thought I'd better grit my teeth and turn on TalkSport. From the moment I tuned in to the moment I pulled into my drive in Northampton, it was United, United, United. The only mention of Saints game was in the news headlines. "A Charlie Austin brace as Southampton win 3-0" Utter disgrace. No exaggeration from me, it was nothing else for the entire journey.
