    This!

Despite the rapid progress we've made over the past five years, we're not at a stage where we should expect anything from Anfield. Hope, yes, but expect, no. When the fixtures come out and we look at points to be taken, I usually guess '0' for Anfield, OT, the Bridge, the Emirates- anything else is a bonus.

As for the derby- it's the derby. It's at home so we all desperately want to win it, but it could go either way, it's a one off game and the situation is unique, form goes out the window and anything can happen. That's what makes it special.

So even if we lose both, I won't be downhearted. I'd love 6 points, be over the moon with 4, and I'd be content with 3 (Anfield loss and home win!). 2 points would be acceptable, less would be disappointing but not the end of the world. Like last season, I'd rather the Mags claim the derbies but we finish higher, than get the upper hand over 2 games but finish lower :)

He was brought in (allegedly) because he owes either ashley or llambias and awful lot of money from a gambling debt. That's the rumour and I cant think of any other sane reason why he was hired. Either way we're stuck with him until the fat cockney twat has had enough.

Haha what? He's working off his debt? Great story but I somehow doubt it's true... would love it to be though.

Sunderland always seem to lose the first game of the season and away at Liverpool isn't going to be easy for anyone this season. The derby - well who knows? A bad derby defeat would be the real problem; defeat in a decent, close, game would be easier to bear, although the crowing from the dark side would be a bastard. We still don't even know what the line-ups for the derby will look like.

Hope that fragile head is feeling OK this morning.

That was the strong rumour at the time, was never sure how true it was.

I don't beleive that story about Pardew for a second. Pardew was freindly with Llambias through his casino and I think that it could well have been a case of "jobs for the boys".

As for how long Pardew will get if we have a poor start to the season, I think that Ashley will back him because he is Ashley's man. He takes a lot of the heat for Ashley and deals with the media far better than either MA or DL are capable of.

If we have a few bad result at the beginning of the season, I think that the fans fury will be once again directed at Ashley and Llambias, not so much at Pardew. Everyone knows that Pardew is trying to manage the team with one hand tied behind his back, and to be honest I don't think that he is doing too badly under very difficult circumstances.

To be honest I can see 2 draws and 2 points. Or a superb performance against Liverpool losing 2-1 then a 1-1 draw with the mags which would be somewhere in between contentment and dispear.
