does anyone have an incline as to who the mystery 20 goal a season striker is that Chriisy wants? My sources suggested we were interested in Le Fondre but now that doesn't seem to be the case. Would we like to see somebody experienced or a hungry youngster. I quite like the look of young Hasselbaink, nephew of JF. Who realistically would you go for?
Assuming he's anything like his uncle, I'd be worried about a hungry young Hasselbaink... Let's buy Jordan Rhodes, just for fun. In terms of those we've been linked with, the only way is Schlupp for me.
I dont think we should be overly panicking for a new Striker until the end of the month The new season might only be 5 days away but we'll only be able to have one Striker on the bench so thats gonna be a straight fight between Benno and Hayes
I saw Sam Williams who we had on trial has signed for Dag & Red good luck to the lad! TVR im with you mate Schlupp would be a fantastic signing, but i'd also like us to go back in for Cody MacDonald
Welcome Sword! He was putting it in from all angles in his late season loan period with Brentford, here's a couple - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfDO0CoOMl0 - plus one he might want to forget... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGMni37Zza4
http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=74968 a) They have no idea what's happening at Charlton (and why should they) b) They seem to think he would be a regular starter if he came on loan (he's 18 for god sake!)
The latter he may well want to forget. Ha! But it would be good to have a young hungry striker to chip in with a few goals this season.
Could be, if you ever remember him, another Paul Williams, one of the best strikers I have seen at Charlton. I'm not sure that he ever played at the Valley though, Lennie signed him for 10k from Hendon, if my memory serves me correctly and was quite the complete striker.
Seems to me that Crawley are in a sweet position regarding Tubbs - if he keeps scoring like he did last season, teams from the higher divisions are inevitably going to come sniffing around - however, the difference between Crawley and almost every other club in their division (and probably most in League 1) is that they're in the financial position of not having to sell to live if they're made a half decent offer. So if the suitor club makes an offer that isn't within a distance of what Crawley think he's worth, they can be sent away with no adverse consequences. If they then come back with a greatly improved offer, or another club comes in with a big new bid, having seen what went on before, then it could be ker-ching! Either way, they've not lost out.
Paul williams an excellent striker left before we moved back went to sheff wednesday ,I think he managed woking a year or two ago, lovely little player and nice bloke to. Very humble due to his non league background and having to work for a living I think he was a qualified accountant.
Cheers for the update MT. I think that Colin Powell recommended him to Lennie after seeing play when he was imterim manager at Barnet.
how about billy paynter on loan scored one goal for leeds last season but was great 4 swindon in league one as we found out in the play-offs and i know leeds fans dont rate him
Well, after tonight's performance, I'm pretty sure it's not going to be Schlupp... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/league_cup/14368469.stm
We've only got three strikers fit anyway so Paynter is needed. You can have Grella if you want, he could probably score you 15-20 if he got on with the manager and improved his attitude hugely.
