Henriksen was there- he won their player of the season the same year Altidore bagged 31 goals....really hopeful of this signing, but at the same time, I wouldn't necessarily expect him to come in straight away and make a huge impact. Mason, on the other hand, I think will come straight in for Meyler and give us a lot more dynamism in the midfield

    Numbers mean nowt now.

Some players get given a squad number early in their career and keep it because they believe it's lucky, so you get an established centre back who is number 27. Other players value the traditional numbers so the best centre forward will insist on number 9. Then if you have 3 players who play right midfield you give one of them the number 7 but then another forces his way into the team and your right winger then becomes number 19.

    It's chaos.

    Makes no sense at all.

They've got their ****ing names on the back of their shirts!

Sack off squad numbers. They serve no purpose.

It'll only take a few players to claim 'I am not a number, I am a free man', and the tyranny will be no more.

You seem to have a blind spot in how you express yourself; the use of ageism and, now, disability prejudice, is really not best used as a means of expressing yourself, as it really does tend to reveal the inner you. Just a bit of seasoned advice.

Do you really believe you piss me off? Sorry, but you don't.

You do disappoint me as I had thought you intelligent and quite thoughtful about football, but your personal need to abuse (as you now admit) detracts from that.

Any abuse I have given you has been no more than a response to what you start; as for most folk, there is a limit to how much a daft lad should be tolerated.

Now let's draw a line and let folk enjoy their weekend, I have better things to do.

By the way, just been headhunted for a multinational, not bad for a nearly 63 yr old, motability scooter driving plumber. :emoticon-0105-wink:<laugh>

Bye Fez there is no abuse agenda on my behalf. Just against cockwombles that deserve it through general ****wittery.

I have no ageism or disability prejudices as you 'claim'. It couldn't actually be further from the truth. Like you say, you don't know me or what I do etc. This is merely a forum and not real life. Maybe you'll see that now you are about to step into gainful employment, on the proviso you don't piss them off before day one.

There's no advice you could offer me that I would find of any value, so don't attempt to patronise or take the moral high ground.

I think in general you will find most arguments are started in the first instance by yourself, butting in on conversations that are already established. Perhaps don't chip in and interfere in the usual way, you may find this advice helpful in the future.

Well done on gaining employment at the age of 63, B&Q are always on the look out for experienced team members, I'm glad they viewed your CV positively.

I still don't quite get the situation with Henriksen. We've signed him on loan and will make it permanent in January, we say.

I can think of at least three scenarios which could potentially kibosh that.

    1) He turns out to be totally gash. Can we say thanks but no thanks or are we committed to buying a pup?

    2) He gets a career ending injury. Can we say he was only on loan, not our problem?

    3) He turns out to be better than Messi. Can AZ say he was only on loan to you, we're selling him to Chelsea for €100 million?

No 3 is very unlikely as you cant play for 3 clubs in a season

Wasn't it some weirdness about the timing/signing/whatever?

Probably, but where would we stand if things change before January?

4 months is a long time in football.

Yeah. When you were a kid 4 months was an interminable time; an eternity, almost. Now it's like next week.

Re: Henriksen - he could well be ok and we'll have first dibs; if not, I dunno, but there'll no doubt be a clause somewhere...

He certainly seems to have a decent reputation and pedigree. I just wonder why nobody bigger than AZ has taken a chance on him previously? Seems strange to me given how highly regarded he appears to be. I'm looking forward to see how he plays, hopefully he brings something to the side we probably haven't had previously.

I thought I read (which is obviously how everyone ITK starts a sentence) that he has been ill, so wasn't able to take an effective medical, so to cover our backs, coupled with the fact we left it so late and are uncertain on who will be paying the final bill, meant we got him on loan that will be converted to a permanent.

    Or some ****.

Squad numbers are the most important aspect of football. These squad numbers are a disgrace. Mason should have been 19, Marshall 25, Weir 23, Henriksen 17 and Keane 22.

    This is pure anarchy.

This transfer was over and above the bare minimum investment the current owners were prepared to make in the event the takeover failed.

Becomes a permenant in jan after the takeover goes through.

If he twangs a cruciate between now and jan he probably doesn't stay. If the FA don't ratify the deal he probably doesn't stay.

In all likelihood however, he probably will stay beyond January, and others will join him then also.
