We have addressed some weak areas in the summer - a new RCB, GK and lightening quick wide man. Still lacking in some areas but Klopp was never expected to fix everything in one window. It's a long process and we have to be patient. We were able to shift a lot of deadwood, strengthen the first XI (once everyone is fit) and make a profit.
Happy enough but I personally thought CM was priority but I trust Klopp, let's see what he can do now he's shipped the deadwood and brought in some of his own signings.. I personally don't know our strongest eleven.
Not personally no. I know it's a big if, but when fit will be the difference between us trying to get top 4 finish and not. Sounds like typical London journo mischief or agent ****e. Esp as it was only a loan lol.
Thing is though Jimmy "long process" managerial appointments are a thing of the past, its 27 years since our last title win and the new train of thought by the new breed of successful managers is to spend big money asap and give their club's a fighting chance of success or to at least qualify for a top 4 spot. We're the 9th richest club on the planet(5th in the prem) yet haven't shown this in terms of ambition in recent years, partly down to appointing managers that ain't good enough and partly due to our owners frugality and strategy, Klopp is a sound manager and has his own way of doing things but watching the big spenders camp out at the top of the league will weigh heavy on his shoulders this season unless we manage to gate crash the party. I'm having a moan because the money was there for a possible instant fix for our left back prob but we never took a punt on a player to put the problem to bed and strengthen our team where it matters.
There is no smoke without fire, the knew that Sturridge is not happy, and they are trying to exploit it.
The power shifted to players a while ago - it needs to shift back. Players refusing to play if they don't get a move, getting their agents to tout them while they are already signed up to a club, 'needing' a holiday midway through the season, youngsters 'demanding' more money and/or playing time when they're obviously not at that level yet ........ the list goes on. Everton have been let down twice [I think] this window having agreed deals on players who pull out last minute for more money or whatever elsewhere. They're the type of players you don't want as they don't really want you. Klopp wants players who want us and who aren't waiting to see if a better offer comes along. All the players he signed this window fit his philosophy. So maybe there were LB targets identified who were giving him the run around instead of jumping at the chance to join us and he walked away. We are where we are now. We have no option but to trust him.
well we all better start praying for no injuries and suspensions for the few defenders we have left. I cannot for the life of me fathom the logic behind our dealings this window. Klopp has more faith in our players than most of us and he better be more careful with our fragile little darlings. Hope i cheer up in time for the proper unveiling of the Main stand.
The suspension thing is more a worry as some managers will say to our better players target him and get him ruffled. Might not have any impact on that particular game, but accumulation of yellows etc and suspended maybe for key games. Some managers will employ these tactics. Just hope klopp makes them aware of this ****e.
[ I agree to some extent - we've been poorly run for far too long. Finally, we have replaced Rafa with a top class manager. The reason we wanted Klopp is because he likes to develop players, develop youngsters, not spend mega money and has the right attitude to build for the long run. He's not doing anything that we didn't expect and we have to respect his plan. The Chinese investment is very interesting for us - if it materialises, we can compete with anyone in world football. Having said that, I don't expect Klopp to go out and buy the likes of Pogba etc. What I do expect is that we will be way more aggressive when attracting Klopp's targets e.g Dembele, Gotze etc.
Who's left to make up the 25 man squad? Mignolet, Karius, Manninger Clyne, Matip, Lovren, Klavan, Gomez, Moreno, ?? Henderson,Can, Milner, Lucas, Grujic, Wiljnaldum, Mane, Lallana, Coutinho, Stewart Sturridge, Firmino, Ings, Origi Who are the home growns in that little lot? Edit: home growns.
I'm sure Sakho will be included in that. Add Ojo and a few other youngsters to be included in various stages of the season.
Forgot about Sakho - who'd have thought Ojo's under 21 so doesn't need to be registered like Randall, Alexander-Arnold and Woodburn [what a talent he is btw]
I think Klopp's attitude to spending money (more Arsene than Jose) was a big factor in FSG appointing him. We'd better get used to it.
