Several papers; Independent, Express, Star (the last one is garbage, they just recycled the Independent's news) have all stated that JM would be willing to do business over Darmian, figure somewhere between £16m and £20m.
For the right fee any team would be willing to do business for any player <doh>

I was worried for a minute, I thought there had been an actual quote from someone at OT.

They're fringe players but I can't see any of them leaving for us, bigger clubs yeah, but we don't have the financial power to sign them.
It's the wages that would kill it for you, City may be prepared to let them go for a reasonable fee but all their players are on mega wages.

Right, but that sort of statement doesn't usually come out unless the player is going to do one.

He's on £100,000 a week plus £20,000 per appearances. No chance unless they paid most of it, which I doubt they would.

They would definitely pay some. If we could get him for a 7m loan fee and 60k a week I think we'd do it. He's likely off to China in January so a six month loan would only be a total outlay of around 8m.

The quality of him would be worth it. At least IMO.

About my club alone I have seen the same BS reports about Fellaini, Mata, Fosu-Mensah, Blind, Rojo and others. God knows how many players from other clubs have had the same treatment to raise an article.

It's a lot of money to pay for a player we wouldn't keep and would then leave in January, when we'd have to shell out for another striker. In fact for that money we could buy Danny Ings from Liverpool.

Yeah but that probably stems from the limelight your club is in. It's totally possibility that the press have put 2+2 together, having seen that he's not played for you this season and they could easily say he's "fallen out with the club", but at the same time it's totally possible that it's true. The only way we'll find out is to see tomorrow if he goes or not.

Don't get me wrong here, it is entirely possible that any player I have mentioned could be sold tomorrow if a bid comes in. I just get a bit bristly when someone (anyone) says a player has been told he can leave with no actual quote or source to back it up <ok>

Ings wouldn't give us the same sort of goal return - he's coming off an ACL after all, so very likely to be hit and miss. It's a big outlay and a big gamble, but it could be the difference between a relegation scrap and mid-table.
