Gives the ball away a lot, doesn't really impose himself, doesn't look much of an athlete.
It's a shake the head moment, he's cost more than Alan shearer in his prime! Ridiculous!Aston Villa have just matched our biggest ever transfer fee on a Championship striker. One of those laugh or cry instances.
My (distant) memory of him was that he was excellent and very unlucky to be dropped for that Belgian bloke. We've never been in a position to judge Gardos properly....he needs a run in the team when fully fit. Scarcely played enough to get used to the EPL. I don't think he will get many chances now as Yoshi is the experienced player if anyone is injured. I like the lad....hope he stays fit, whatever else happens to him.
West ham have had a bid of £42.7m REJECTED by Lyon for Lacazette!
He likes you a lot too![]()
Well I certainly don't look much of an athlete these days.A number of people here banging on about Harrison Reed. Do you really think he'll ever make the breakthrough or is he another one destined to find success at a lower level, a la Surman ,who is now back in the PL after a circuitous route?
I think he's great. You must log in or register to see media
Guy tweets weird.
If someone's good enough they will break through, but harder to break through into a good PL side than in League 1. It has been said before that we have hit the gap between our golden generation and the next good things...a gap reflecting when we were facing dissolution (don't know if true, but have heard it said). And you only need a few of the many academy lads to make it for the academy to be a success...look at the money we made from Shaw, Lallana and Chambers in recent times. And the money saved on Targett and JWP.He's from the academy so he isn't good enough. Targett is only good enough for backup and will be out when Bertrand gets back and JWP will be sold this season because he isn't good enough either.
To be honest "The Southampton Way" is just the buzzline and means nothing anymore as the club contradicts what they say it is in it's entirety.
The statements of "we play the same from youth through to the first team" are just words and being shown to be so.
The "pathway" is not there unless you want to call getting to the bench or being backup for injuries a pathway.
We may as well just give up on the kids and flog them all on bringing in cheap backup instead. Saves having the arguments with people over whether we are sticking to the Southampton way.
TBH I've lost a lot of interest with us just replacing the team with people that I've never heard of when it would be nice to feel proud to have "one of our own" in the first team to have a pretence that we are what we are trying to say we are.
Makes me cringe when the media constantly talk up "What Saints do" when we aren't doing it.

Leeds did the same , hopefully they are not overspending and reliant on champions league next year aswell .Leicester are spending some big money. Really going for it whilst at the top. Fair play to them and their ambition.
