Lyall Thomas of Sky sports is claiming that there'll be "one or two more (incomings) after the GK".

So, Lopez is all but done?- Marca are also claiming is complete with an announcement due.

Other reports are suggesting that we've bid £18m for Zaha. - if true, that completely undoes all of Levy's hard work in terms of the fees he's managed to get for some of our fringe players. <doh>

I am the first to admit that I've never been Chadli's biggest fan. Not because I don't think he's a decent player, but purely because I don't think he's a "cog" (to use CK's wording) that fits Poch's plans. He'll probably do well at West Brom and get some goals and assists like he has done with us. Good luck to him <ok>

However, it does feel a little bit like "be careful what you wish for, Roo". - I didn't think that Chadli's departure would end up being sold with the squad the way it is.

Chadli's departure will be the hardest to take of this summer imo. Even though he isn't a cog, over three seasons he consistently showed that he knew where the onion bag was and how to help others find it too. In fact, he probably had the best goals per minutes player ratio out of any of our midfielders. His overall contribution to a season was probably far higher than any of the other 'non-cogs' in the wider squad. Whereas Carroll, Son, Onomah, Mason etc often looked lost, Chadli knew what he was capable of and just did it.

He is one player I am genuinely sad to see go. Like Defoe, never underestimate a player who can come off the bench and grab a goal.

I want Zaha less than I wanted Berahino...bizarre choice imho.
Massively over rated, petulant, rarely scores, rarely sets goals up, rarely defends and has an ego that hugely eclipse his talent...from Palace to United... plays 2 or 3 games and back to palace tells it's own story imho.

True, but signing or replacing him with a "cog" that does fit the technicalities of the system, and we won't notice he's gone. In fact, it could have the opposite effect and make us much stronger. - I am presuming that GKN is meant to be that player? if so, good luck to him.

Totally agree. If he was a proven premier league player, then fair enough. But he's not, as you say.

GKN is a replacement for NJie. Rest assured we won't be signing the player you have in mind. And if it ends up being Zaha I might cry.

But N'jie didn't play all of last season, so surely by default he becomes Chadli's replacement? <laugh>

Deadline day is not a day to be bringing in players from overseas, unless the transfer is well underway in the days/weeks previous. If there's progres made in said days/weeks, we'd know about it. - Pau Lopez and GKN fit that description. If we're doing any business on deadline day, it'll be a player from London for example, as we saw with Dempsey. Therefore, be prepared for us to spend god knows how much on Zaha. Get your sad tissues ready mate <laugh>

According to Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti, Tottenham Hotspur offered €15m (£12.8m) for Dinamo Zagreb playmaker Ante Coric over the weekend.

Plausible and affordable and therefore, it won't happen.
He's already turned down City and Liverpool, so we'd have to be offering him a good chance at starting regularly.
Perhaps our decent record with Croatians might help influence him, but I can't see this happening.
He's in the Champions League already and wants to use the opportunity to impress.

Other than the goals he's a bit **** though isn't he? I know, I know "other than the goals..."

Three years ago I wrote a post titled something like "Seven signings doesn't mean seven decent additions" pointing out that with the usual 30ish% success rate of signings we shuld expect 2, maybe 3, maybe 1 of those Magnificent 7 to be successes. And even though the number looks to have just about got up to 2 now (though only because Lamela has such great tenacity and attitude, more than the goals and silky skills that we all thought we were all getting) I must say that now we can judge it three years down the line the Magnificent 7 were a ****ing woeful bunch of signings. Some were just pure ****, some just weren't needed (Capoue), some were unlucky (Soldado) but at the end of the day we lost Bale and got Eriksen and Lamela. Not great.

As for hard to take I just cannot help but wish that whatever behind-the-scenes stuff led to it hadn't happened and Bentaleb was not leaving. Two years ago I was agreeing with loads of people on here that he looks like future captain material...

Poch does love to clear out any whiff of a bad egg though and I can't argue with the results so far in terms of perceptible team spirit.

Most of the other weird stuff hasn't actually happened yet (Son out, N'JIE out, Mason out, no-one in) so we'll see. On Son I'd hope that we can see some of what he showed in his first 10 or so games for us last year when I thought he looked absolute quality.

Hello lads. Hope you all had a good summer break. Not had much chance to keep an eye on the 606 site lately, let alone watch any of the games with too many other commitments but felt compelled to come on and see everyone's reaction to Chadli going to WBA.

Like most others, I was never his greatest fan but he had an eye for goal (25 in 119 appearances which is respectable) and has been a useful sub in recent seasons and I thought the guy was generally a decent player. I can only assume there's one, maybe two new faces coming in soon because why he gets shown the door whilst Son who's been flat out disappointing since the turn of the year and Mason who's been lightweight for months now stays, baffles me.

Maybe you all know something I don't as I haven't been watching the transfer market a great deal but for me, our midfield second string looks distinctly lacking to me now the big Belgian has gone.

All are welcome to put my mind at rest! <cheers>

we know as little as you, pal! Chadli was a decent player, but as has been discussed he didn't exactly fit, so poch hasn't included him this season. I have no problem with players like him leaving, as long as there's a better replacement coming in. - that we're going to have to wait and see.
Mason will leave too, i think that's a formality now. it's just taken a little longer than Chadli.

Our attacking midfield bench/sub/second string options at present aren't looking great, are they? Just Carroll, Son and Onomah as other options, and Janssen if we change formation. It needs work.

I'm still standing by my guns, we're letting the good squad players go because something big is happening. I'm going with the theory of positive thoughts will help achieve a positive outcome.

So, with Nacer out and Son potentially to follow, while N'jie will surely end up in a swap for GNK, our attacking mid options after Wednesday night will have gone from:
Alli, Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli, Son, N'jie, Onomah

To:
Alli, Eriksen, Lamela, Isco, Calhanoglu, GNK, Onomah

You heard it here first, I'm now declaring to be ITK and all that.

Don't do this to us or yourself, SOS!

Nope, I've been pretty mellow in transfer windows of late, even after the Berahino disappointment I remained somewhat calm and not overly fussed but now's the time to go all guns blazing. It's happening mate, we're going to have a stellar end to this transfer window.

What squad numbers do you reckon Isco, GNK and Calhanoglu will have once they've joined? <laugh>

Stop! <laugh>

I'm going to piss on your fire with something that's potentially realistic...

Adrien Silva was a rumoured target of ours. He's now going to Leicester. Didn't Paul Mitchell, part of our recruitment team, leave us to go to Leicester, recently?

And you think we're going to sign Isco?
