He agreed to stay, just so he could end the conversation* and get out the room. * one way conversation
Makes me laugh how Utd are now feeding the media **** like "we were never interested in fonte" to save their embarrasment of being turned down by a smaller club.
Need a Fonte statement telling us about the interest but how he couldn't leave because the parties not over yet. Do it, do it!
I'd take a late headed goal at St Mary's today from Fonte, followed by him removing his shirt to reveal a tattoo saying, "A Saint Forever" ...
I think he's getting a Saint kicking a devil motif done as we speak. From Zac's in Northam Road (where I got my first and only tattoo).
If saints had not had an approach from Utd, It was not for Fonte to make a statement about it quite frankly. Why should he? The only thing he said to the media on the subject was that he was flattered to be linked to Utd. The rest was either hot air from the fans or from his agent (who happens to be the same as the Utd manager) As I said somewhere previously, it was either his agent trying to make a few bucks or it was the media putting 2+2 and making 5. Even if Utd are lying through their teeth about their lack of interest it is strange for them to come out and say they never where interested. Errr............ why did they need to say anything? Or.......... why now........ why not earlier? Something doesn't add up here....but hey........ glad you're staying Jose.
Fonte made a stament about being flattered by United's interest. Maybe United will be about to sue him if they showed no interest.
Perhaps United are trying to save face? A club like Southampton put their foot down and tell them that Fonte is going nowhere and miraculously they didn't want him anyway That doesn't strike you as odd? Also why are United only coming out now and saying they were never interested? Why not when the rumours first surfaced or in the weeks that followed? Fonte has crunch talks with RK, Puel announces that he's staying, Man United come out and say "we didn't want him anyway".
