Palace owner Steve Parish has just phoned in to talkSPORT to address the Wilfried Zaha situation...

Thats bloody great! If Zaha doesn't like it then he will have to deal with it with the club. This is typical of the transfer market's power to disrupt clubs and the FA need to really look at closing the window before season starts. Clubs need to be settled with everyone on the right page. 2-3 points can make or break fortunes at seasons end and being able to wade in and **** up teams for the first few games of a season is bang out of order.

This is a lad with a plan....didn't even try to pretend that he wanted to play for Saints since childhood. Intimated that he had seen players come here and move on right at the beginning. However, has its upside...we could get players choosing to come here and play well for a couple of years to further their careers and do us some good at the same time.
Nothing wrong with honesty and at least you know he will be trying to prove a point instead of thinking he has made it money wise.

“There is absolutely no chance Zaha will leave Palace in this window. We don’t have to sell to Tottenham, it’s not like it was before. We are not selling him in this transfer window. I want to reassure all the Palace fans and the manager.

“I have not spoken to the player. I think the manager and the player might have had a conversation, but I am the chairman of the club and he is not going anywhere. He might have to get his head around that, but that’s the reality.

“It is difficult for Wilfried because a big club have come in for him, but we want to finish ahead of these clubs. We need to convince Wilfried that he can achieve what he wants here and that conversation will happen once the transfer window is closed.

“What I don’t understand is that they make a bid on a whim and then it appears in the newspaper. It’s fine to make a bid, but it is a different thing that it is in the Daily Mail before we know about it.

“They have three months to get it a strategy in place for transfers and then a week before the window end, they come in with a bid. What does that say (about Spurs)?

“Wilfried represents a lot to our football club. He is a talisman for our club and we have already made some risky moves this summer. Wilfried Zaha will not go in this transfer window, that is our strategy.

“When I make a bid for a player, I don’t tell the Daily Mail about it. I don’t know why they need to know about it.”
Will probably look to sneak in and sign Boufal now? :emoticon-0120-doh:

He's not much different Reed IMO. Wants best for his club, we've gone in late with some purchases. They've been targeted late in transfer windows in the past (Man U for Berbatov). Fans are fickle.

It's not the "going in late." I think Les conducts our business very well. You really think Les is like Levy in trying to undermine clubs and the way they seem To go about things?

Of course they want the best for their clubs but that's about it. I think Les is miles away from Levy.

Palace aren't the first club to complain about Levy.

Except our business isn't splashed all over the sports websites as soon as we make a move on a player. We've been after Boufal for a while and only when a fee is agreed or close to being agreed does it get reported in the press. Levy uses the media as a way of trying to force a move and making the player unsettled. He's a complete arsehole.

Zaha needs to think seriously about his actions. Not only did Crystal Palace produce him, but they also took him back after things went pear-shaped at Old Trafford. The club obviously cares a lot about him and respects him. He is being a complete moron if he just decides to demand a transfer on the back of a Daily Mail story. And he's not even that good.

Nonsense, sorry. Take this through -

If Fonte, who ultimately had the power, had decided to leave, would it have been the fault of the board had that gone through? No.

The board were doing everything they could to persuade Fonte to stay. It worked. Therefore do they deserve just a modicum of credit? Yes. Does Fonte for not kicking up a fuss? Yes. They both do.

By implication from Puel......I think Saints fans also had a hand in persuading him to stay...........

This says a lot about the type of person he is (or seems to be). One reason why I wouldn't want us to sign him.

Just picking an argument, but his attitude is exactly the attitude that has seen Luke, Shaw, Callum Chambers, Adam Lallana, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Gareth Bale and Ricky Lambert up sticks and **** off. Can't see much difference but I'm a very long way away.

You're only using one aspect - leaving a club. I'm on about the "type of person" he comes across as. He has often alone across as a bit of a dick head and thinks he's a bit of a play boy. You ever seen Rickie Lambert behave like that? Theo? Bale? Even Lallama? Etc, etc.

Just to re-iterate, my comment was about how I see him come across as a person, NOT how he leaves a club or not.

Your picking an argument without realising what the discussion was about :)

Fair enough but I can only go on the original post about the cub being good to him and your response. I'm not that famiilar with his back story.
