Every single one of those clubs has ****ter away support. Doesn't matter where we go, we take more fans than anyone else, and opposition fans seem to want to come out to see us. Probably because they want to see us get beat, but still. Can't argue with fact, we were top gates for 14 clubs last season, many of which we don't even care about, and a few of which saw higher gates for us than they did with their local rivals.

If you genuinely believe there are 8 clubs that will provide you with higher gates than Leeds, then I pity you. We will at the very least be top 5, and I'm only being that conservative because of Sky coverage.

I'm not debating what your away following is.

And away, 13 sides isn't 23 sides. Our gate against you will be large for sure. But come the end of the season, I'd be surprised if it's in our top 4 or 5 gates.

He was wrong, it was 14 sides. 14 out of 23 is proof enough that the fans come out for the big club, and we are the biggest in the league. I have no idea where you've got this idea that you'll get higher gates for other clubs from, especially since several of them are tin pot clubs with no fans.

because i think the time of year and the fact that it is being shown on sky will affect the attendance, there will be more then a few people on holiday and quite a few may not bother coming as they can watch it on tv

That is possibly true you may have the biggest following for away games.........it will depend on how many saints fans are interested in making the effort to be present when you come down. Leeds will not be their priority. So people on a budget may well decide to miss the Leeds game and come to the Barnsley game instead. It may hold more interest <whistle>

I got my figures wrong, we produced the highest attendances when visiting places 14 times out of 22 games, not bad :)

But we'll still bring the numbers.

I heard we got an additional allocation on top of the 3000, anyone any idea how many?

For the first time on this thread, I've finally found someone that makes me want to back Lamben in not having match threads include the opposition!

Why don't we break this down. West Ham and Birmingham were not in this division last season, so you can't compare like-for-like on what was achieved last season. Portsmouth are obviously our rivals. Brighton and Reading are fairly close - and moreover, having gone head-to-head with Brighton last season, I think both sets of fans will be quite looking forward to playing each other again this time around. Leicester are a much bigger threat than they were last season, and thus a re a bigger attraction than they were.

Amazingly enough, away attendance doesn't solely determine how big a gate is. Well done for having massive away attendances - I think you'll find that we do as well. But just because you can sell out our away end (well actually, last time I checked earlier this week you hadn't sold it out!!) doesn't mean you'll get the biggest gate or two. And any, you certainly wont be the only side to threaten to sell it out.

While on paper you'd expect those facts to result in higher gates for other games, it doesn't top the emotional side. People hate Leeds. Really hate us. So much so that a few years ago we were voted most hated club in the country, beating the scum to the title after having exited the premier league. Infact we were in League One when the survey was done.

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article1535214.ece

Everyone wants to get one up on "dirty leeds". This is why we always bring out the crowds.

And away crowds make more of a difference than you think, so many clubs don't take the maximum allocation a club is prepared to offer because they won't sell them and often don't, and in those cases those unsold away tickets don't get sold to home fans because the demand was never there in the first place, because most clubs don't come close to filling their grounds most weeks.

Fans in this division are more bothered about their own club than seeing the best football. They are more likely to take the opportunity to maybe see their club do one over on their rivals or a club that is universally hated, than they are to want to watch a match because the opposition is a "good side" that "plays good football". I don't enjoy watching my team get turned over, no matter who it is.

Club size and reputation does much more for attendance than quality of football. Unless you're a plastic neutral or some ****, in which case you'd be at arsenal or scum or some **** like that.

considering the size of Leeds as a city the support they get at home is p*ss poor, twice as many people live in Leeds than Southampton but they average a few thousand a week more, although they do travel well, other than manure they are probably the loudest and most arrogant.

    Davis Andrew Lonergan
    Butterfield Paul Connolly
    Fonte Andy O'brien
    Seabourne Patrick Kisnorbo
    Harding Aidan White
    Alex Chamberlain/De Ridder Max Gradel
    Schniederlin Jonny Howson
    Cork Michael Brown
    Lallana Robert Snodgrass
    Lambert Billie Paynter
    Connolly Ross Mccormack

    Most likely starting line ups.

    Southampton
I think our defence our defence is ok but with one more Class CB it could be one of the best in the league. Sebourne has had a great pre-seasson so for all we no he could come into the championship in great form. Leeds have a great attack so our defence will be tested. But attacking for us is great Lallana Oxo Lmabert Connolly. I think we have one of the best attacks in the league.

    Leeds
With two injuries, there biggest blow main striker luciano becchio. I think Davide somma's injured if not him instead of mccormack. I think leeds have a great attack. I think Kisnorbo will be a handfull. But i think Lallana and Oxo will give Ledds full backs a run for there money.

We also have higher ticket prices over the course of a season than anyone else, yet still sell more tickets. It is sad that a city this size can't fill a 40 000 seater stadium when there's no competition for fans for at least a 20 mile radius, but it's due to the fall from grace. The way we fell is hard on people emotionally, and if it grinds for that long it's going to do a massive blow to attendances. Since we won promotion the fans have begun to return. People talking about the footy all over the city and how much better the club is doing is persuading more and more fans to return every day. And it's not down to the quality of football, it's down to not wanting the heartbreak.

I can post figures backing this up, but I feel it would fall on deaf ears.
