9 foot worse, his house and work is underwater so to speak ... everything gone including the city stuff given to him by the club and city shirts sent by fans to fill his local .. will be speaking to mooney tomorrow about this as he helped john get a ticket so lets help him get him life back as best we can

It was suggested that a shirt etc, was sent, but to be honest my thoughts were that funds may be the best thing to sort out first.

I am prepared to do a cash collection at the Airco on Saturday and when the time is right to do the same for city shirts and stuff. Perhaps the same could happen at the William Gemmell.

Met John a few times when he has been across here (first time he came he asked at the bar for a carling black label and the staff looked a bit puzzled, must admit I chuckled a bit <laugh>) , absolute top bloke and really would do anything for anyone ,

There is a photo taken at one of his meet-ups in the archives on here. I believe Melbourne Tiger and Canada Tiger were there(CT missed the photo shoot?). I knew him from the Hull CityMad board but my wife had far more interaction after I left, both there and on here.. Remember him accusing her of being a Ghurkin alias one night. He and Ghurkin did not see eye to eye!
When we planned a visit to the USA/Canada a couple of years ago to include New Orleans he said he would take us out for dinner.

Did his son John who was in IT marry in Scotland? Know a huge wedding was planned at one stage.

John wasn't the only one who didn't see eye to eye with that character; and though Ghurkin had various guises it was always plain the same person was behind them, but please tell me it wasn't your missus!

Ghurkin joined the Hull CityMad forum around 2002-03. I joined in early 2009 and my wife first posted on there a few months later. He was one of her favourite posters.

There's quite a moving video of John on Facebook, his son has filmed him as he finds out that City fans have heard about his plight and have already donated over $2,000. He's just a little bit blown away. I can't lift the video off to post it, but I assume someone will put up a version that can be copied somewhere.

Had a little look through the donors. There are a few who have chucked in $100, so I was wondering which one is Patty:

Juliet Jackson?
Terry Chesnut?
TwoWright Git?
Puddin' Ahlborn?
Susan Snelling?

My money is on Juliet or Susan :emoticon-0140-rofl:

I met John in Hull a few years ago, as BMB has reported in an earlier post on this thread, and he was kind enough to get my wife and I a couple of tickets for a match at the KCOM as they were in short supply and my long distance requests to Club Management had been ignored. He refused to accept payment which was typical of him and I am so saddened by what has happened to him in the Louisiana tragedy.

John I want you to know if you read this, or if your friends on here could pass it on, that there is always a welcome and space for you at my house should you need it. It is just over the Canadian border and a long way from Baton Rouge unfortunately but it is big and in a beautiful area and you would be well looked after. Just a thought my friend. I'll do what I can to help, including a donation to your Fund.

God bless you John and good luck!
