SURELY means a Forward signing has been done, otherwise why would we leave ourselves so short up front!!! Barring more injuries we'd be ****ed otherwise!
Yep logical reason would be that we're getting a new forward in. But seriously, what has Campbell done to Wenger to be sidelined so much? I mean, OXO did practically nothing last season and has continually struggled at the highest level but still gets plenty of opportunities. Even when Campbell does well he gets mysteriously dropped. Did he put too many sugars in Wenger's coffee or something? If i was going to loan someone out then i would loan OXO out, not Campbell. Ganabry is also going out on loan too.
Agreed! I always think Wenger loans out too many at the start of the season, our squad isnt exactly brimming with depth, especially knowing we are so injury prone!
I wish this were true, but given the evidence of past transfer windows, Wenger seems more than happy to loan players out without actually signing a player that improves the position ..... we'll see.
You'd think the deals would be done together if they were meant to be connected. Even if a player is lined up, it can still go wrong.
We signed a DM in Xhaka nice and early, straight after that we should have been working on getting a striker. I think we were, the Higuian and Lacazette rumours were pretty strong, but once again it looks like we've failed to strengthen in an area that we really struggle with. That said, the market for strikers this window has been pretty barren.
Couldnt agree more!! Why are we all seeing the bloody obvious but he (Wenger) doesnt... it's beyond madness what's happened this particular transfer window. We are regressing season after season it's so bloody obvious to see!
Rumour has it mustafi is set to stay at Valencia according to guilleme ballague. Apparently we are too far apart on valuation and apparently Valencia only want to sell for his release clause. (Which in fairness is too much...)
Luckily, he was injured yesterday. Just as well, as I might do myself a mischief laughing if you sign him.
Why? he was decent at United and has been excellent for the last 12 months. Might not be a bad signing at all.
For sure. It's funny all the pundits have been singing his praises over the last year but if he signs for Arsenal the same people will be saying its an underwhelming signing.
The other thing if we spend 30-40m on Mustafi there's little chance we will be buying a striker. Evans plus Lacazette?.. That would be a pretty good window.
I always found him really underwhelming at united and lucky to be there - made to look better by better players like Rio and Evra, similar to Silvestre in that respect. He did decent at West Brom - but lets be fair, their standards are different than ours, they aren't trying to challenge for the league as we are. It's hardly like they need/expect to sign world class players.
Jonny Evans would not, in any way, shape or form, be a vast improvement on what we have now nor is he good enough to be at a club like Arsenal. There is a reason why United shipped him off. He's good with the ball at his feet and can play out from the back. That's literally all he would be good for in the Arsenal team. He isn't good in the air. He isn't particularly strong (Imagine him against Ibrahimovic, he would get absolutely obliterated). He can be suspect positionally as well. The move would make no sense. And do we seriously want another United cast-off? Wenger truly has lost his mind if he is even contemplating this.
Evans is a decent PL level CB, as a stop gap for your injuries and a backup once they return he would be very good but, only at a reasonable price (normal reasonable not Wenger reasonable).
