I believe Chamakh is still a free agent...

Could be a good possibility if Mbokani isn't available, as seems to be likely. That could still leave money for another, younger proven striker as well as the French CB. A similar case to N'Doye, really, in that he never produced his form at Bordeaux in the English league.

Though Rhodes wouldn't be my first choice, he is a proven striker in this league and could probably do a job in the PL as well. the downside is that he wouldn't put in the work that Jerome does, but at 26, he could be a good move for £9-10m. I would rather him than McCormack at £14m.
He would get goals. If we look inept going forward, I'd fancy our chances with Rhodes coming on, rather than Lafferty or Morris.

Reading have signed Liam Moore and Tyler Blackett in the past few days. 2 very promising young defensive talents. Showing how a Championship side should get things done.

You mean like not using an inept recruiting team ?
Inept? But they've identified a whole 500 strikers! Then put them in a list, then put that list in order (that took two months) then started at the top.

We made contact with the first one, low balled the club, pissed them off, moaned about the cost of players these days, and a week later moved on. We're now at number 23 in the list, so we'll definitely get someone in - after all we've still got 477 players to try! By about 2026 we'll have finished contacting them all, and can sign a 40 year old who retired in 2022!

Without wishing to be too simplistic, how hard is it to identify strikers? Everton have been using the Football Managers games database since 2008, which is pretty extensive in terms of hard stats if not player qualities. Narrow down by European strikers, aged 21-32, who scored 15 goals last season and are taller than 6ft. Further filters by whether you've ever heard of the league they play in, and if you're left with 500 strikers then I'd be gobsmacked. That's less than a mornings work, surely?

Yes, I'd be very happy with Rhodes. Near as you can get to a guarantee of goals in this division.
