"Brazilian media reports judge has issued order to prevent US swimmers Ryan Lochte & James Feigen from leaving country"

I guess this is about their robbery..?

Also a lot of boxing judges are getting dropped. I wonder why....

The men have asked to play with no shirt, but can't because of advertising space.

Apparently some rivals have found GB's success questionable. Sports Minister has replied that it is down to coaching and planning. Bloody cheek....will always be bad apples but the British are about the least likely to cheat. Two factors here....our success and our insistence on cleaning up sport. Amazing how cheats want others to be found wanting as if they are therefore exonerated. Look at the Russian outrage when they must be fully aware that they have always cheated.

I wonder if these people found the GB medals haul in 2012 and 2008 suspicious? Those performances are inline with this year's. If a visitor to these shores walks down any UK high-street they will soon realise we are a nation of Olympians.

Yes I caught the end of it which was what made me comment on the dress code. Good to see Brazil as home nation beat the USA.
Yes, I do understand what you mean by the inequality in the dress code. In all honesty I think the Men would rather wear less themselves. But while we live in a World where the female form is still thought of as something to be displayed in order to attract an audience we will get these inequalities.
I would be lying if didn't admit that the female form is attractive to watch. But I think there is a difference between promoting a sport primarily on the basis of appearance and one where the appearance is part of the beauty of the sport.
Clearly, we still have a problem within our culture where the amount of clothing a woman wears is seen as provocative, sexual or undignified. But this is not confined to Western values. Some of the women's teams from countries where the dominant religion is Islam seem to be dressed in too much clothing for the sport they're partaking in. Wear what is comfortable and best suited to the purpose, I would say.

Here's one from left-field. I grew up playing my competitive football in the 1960/70/80s. In all that time the football shorts I wore were halfway up the thigh or higher [in the 80s, much higher]. They were fit for purpose. So why, these days, do professional footballers play in shorts with enough material to make two pairs.? They look silly with it all flapping around and it can only be constricting. I'd hate to have to play in those shorts. ;)

Penalty shoot out in the women's hockey. Netherlands win. That's how a football shootout should be done, much more fun. The player shooting can run with the ball and the goalie can come out to try to stop them. :)
