I was amused by the difference between sportsmen preparing for a race....most sit in silence or listen to music on headphones, whilst Laura Trott looks like she is getting ready for a night on the town chatting to her mates.
That was funny watching those two yesterday. Is there still a chance they could meet in the final? It would be funny if they sta there giggling with each other just before that race!
James and Marchant are in a different race to Trott who is in the omnium (if I'm keeping up).....though they could join her just for the company. Trouble is that right in the middle of some juicy gossip Laura would have to shoot off to win gold.
Interesting occurrence in the 110m hurdles for men last night. The first heat was re-run last night after complaints from one of the athletes, Deuce Carter, who was initially disqualified for a technicality in the pouring rain. In the re-run he won so is through to the next stage. As for the US runners it is a new wave as I have never heard of them before but they should all get through to the serious end of the competition. And Matthew Clarke ran a good race to qualify for the next round..

I kept quiet for you but what a way to conclude a competition. I think all the Brazilians present in the stadium "hauled" him over 6.03!! Da Silva must have done at least two PBs on his way to gold. I hope he can do that again in future competitions.

Like rugby 7s*, golf has had a good reintroduction into the Games. The players taking part have said how much they have enjoyed it....one said it had been the best tournament ever. Justin Rose expects everyone will want to play in Tokyo. It was a terrific competition going to the wire....Rose and Stenson out in front, but with a couple behind threatening to catch up at one point.

Da Silva played the competition so cleverly too. By his choosing to pass on particular heights he threw all the pressure on Lavillenie who had been jumping brilliantly but who then started to feel it. Then along came Da Silva, with almost no pressure at all, because he already had the Silver, and sailed over at 6.03m. His previous best had been 5.92m. New Olympic record too.

We now have two medals in the athletics field events. It would be great if British Field Athletics follows in the footsteps of Cycling and Gymnastics and starts winning many more medals. There are many different disciplines to choose from for youngsters to make a name for themselves.
The British open water swimmer got disqualified about 2 metres from the end of a 10km race and had a big old rant about nonsensical yellow cards and referees who don't have a clue what they're doing. It was like watching a post-match football interview!

I watched the end of the race and missed his interview. Wish I'd stayed tuned. I felt for the greek guy who didn't slap the Board in time and came second, despite crossing the "line" first.
Gatlin should not be able to come back after a second failed drugs test...it's a disgrace.

Ben Ainsley ( Sir ) said the rules were set up to try and prevent this from happening . He said this just proves how great Giles Scott is .

Nice little boats are Finns. But I like two sails and two people. Don't like drinking alone on-board.
If you mean the race, I competed in the same Round The Island [IOW] Race that Ben Ainslie was involved in a few years back. I've done a couple of years. It can get quite hairy in rough weather. Good fun though.
If you get a chance to go Sailing, having never done it before, say YES, and worry about the details later. Such fun.
