She is unbelievably awesome. On course to be the greatest British Olympian of all time, having already become the first British female to get 3 golds. Earlier today she said that at the start of her career her target was to be a reserve rider in London 2012, then gain some experience in Rio, but try and get a medal in Tokyo 2020. Instead of which she got 2 golds in London, and already another at these games, with a possible 4th in the Omnium. And she is only 24, so could easily have another 2 or even 3 Olympics to come.
Yep, saw that too, and I agree. She could have another 2 or 3 Olympics, being such a slight powerhouse.
I said to the wife this evening that she is the grittiest team member in the GB team (whole Olynpic team, men and women) in my opinion. She giggles like a school girl off that bike, but as soon as she is on it.... Vroooom
Very sad the German canoeing coach has been killed in a car accident on the way back from the white water centre - 35 years old
Wow!! David Rudisha, Olympic Master in the 800m yet again. Great time, 1.42.5!!! Murphy of the USA 3rd!! 1500m champion from 2012 was 2nd. For any Kiwis on this board he has achieved what their countryman, Peter Snell achieved, double Olympic 800m champion. Interestingly they both share the same birthday.
He's poetry in motion. I remember in London 2012 he blew us all away with his flowing running. Had it not been for the upstart Kipketer we might have seen something closer to his WR.
What a way to get gold. Diving for the line. Both Felix and Miller are absolutely shattered. First 3 around in under 50 seconds. Allyson Felix is a true champion in her conduct on and off the track. Miller looks as if she will still be trackside at breakfast time tomorrow.
What will be the winning height in the pole vault? Not many over at 5.75!! 5.85 might well get gold. Lavillene has just sailed over 5.85. Da Silva over as well. Lavillenie has just soared over 5.93. Da Silva has just matched the Frenchman on his second attempt at this height.
Kipketer lost his head completely setting off at that suicidal pace. His coach will have serious words with him on how to pace himself better.
I'm loving this pole vault competition. Mind you I am watching things about 5 mins in arrears because I missed Phil Jones interview with Rudisha, and he's such a nice bloke. So don't tell me what happens.!
Oh my word, that was fantastic. This is why the Olympic Games is the best competition in the World bar none.! A bleeding Pole Vault competition. But what incredible drama.
I was amused by the difference between sportsmen preparing for a race....most sit in silence or listen to music on headphones, whilst Laura Trott looks like she is getting ready for a night on the town chatting to her mates.
