Hesketh has got to break through soon!!

Few interesting omissions from that U23 lineup - No Reed, Stephens or McQueen (assume with the first-team permanently), Turnbull (linked with Swindon permanently), Isgrove (who knows!).

I'm going to guess these players will either be loaned or sold.
They've moved on from this level for better or worse

I may be wrong, but it has always seemed to me that our youth team uses league games for experimentation, whilst taking the cup games more serious. The youth cup seems to carry more prestige than the league.

Would really like to see the first team taking this approach (at least for a season or two).

Experimentation and pushing yoof to play at older age groups, hence why league results were often poor.

It's long been the way though. Back in the 80's, we'd have Youth team players playing in the reserves and then school boys making up the number son the youth team. When the cups came around, we'd play our strongest youth team.

Ticket details for the first group match away to Charlton
£10 for adults - £5 for under 21s and over 65s

Will be interesting to see how this experiment goes.
With Charlton in disarray, I would not be surprised if this game doesn't get 1,000 fans if home supporters are charged the same rate.
