I read something about this yesterday. I can't believe they thought metal bars were a good idea. And now a 10 year old boy has lost his life.

Terrible accident, but no thrill ride can be without risk. You cannot hurtle at speed without the chance of danger. Comes down to was it an unforeseen accident (aka as act of god) or is it down to the construction/maintenance. Saw a similar one on the net where a man on a lilo flew off a slalom ride and down a hillside....thankfully not badly hurt. Would never get on any such thing...though admittedly I am a complete coward. I had to be rescued at Disney after refusing to let go at the top of a slide....my son was hiding at the bottom when I was brought down.

Apparently the safety belt became undone and he flew off the raft and hit the safety netting.

The article has the age wrong, he was 12, but still messed up. Be careful on twitter, there are pics of the slide with blood all over it.

This is different. The slide had been denied by all water park committees as they all agreed it was dangerous. So the owner of the water park built it himself due to the US laws being light. So basically the slide was unsafe from the start:

    1. There is no track that the boat is connected to it just slides down.

    2. The belt that hold a person in are velcro...

    3. 3 people at a time ride it and those 3 people have to weigh more then 500lbs or the raft flys up. Which is what happened with the 12yr old.

    4. Instead of rethinking the design to stop the dinghy fly up. They put up the hoops and chain link fence to stop it.

    Dodgy as hell.

Very sad. Should retest it with the owner.

Yeah the design of the slide is ****ed up. Once the kid had come loose he didn't stand a chance. And velcro belts? I mean, even if we forget the fact that this is a water slide and water reduces the stickiness of velcro this is a slide with a 168ft drop with the dinghy's travelling at 65mph. What a complete disgrace to allow this slide to be built.

    IT Help!!

I'm in a hotel in Germany and can't get hold of any IT people at work (French and its August :emoticon-0121-angry). I can't get online at the hotel and they can't help either. I have an Internet connection, but when I enter the room number and password the filling message appears:

"Your MAC address is undefined. Problem with the gateway?" (It's not an Apple Mac by the way)

Since having a new work laptop, I often have issues connecting in public places so I am sure my colleagues have just not unchecked a security box somewhere. I connected at the airport this morning, no problem.

    Any ideas?

Internet works fine with password on my phone!

That's almost definitely their end, unless you're doing something very weird. MAC address is a physical identifier for your laptop, it shouldn't change unless you change it. Are you definitely allowed more than one connection with the same login/password? Other possibility is that something your work has put on there is stopping it (not really sure what). Most Google hits for that message are from around 2005, which is not massively helpful.

Not my best area, but it sounds like you have the DHCP [Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol] disabled for wireless connections [wi-fi].

If you tell me what OS you are using I'll probably be able to take you through the procedure if you don't know.

See the trouble I go to to help.? Do I ask for thanks.? :)

These are just avenues you have to explore before you can eliminate things for certain. As it happens I've been called away, so perhaps you can look up the procedure on Google [as you can post here with your phone, I assume].

Check the procedure out for Windows 7. You won't screw it up. You can always undo it.

Right. I'm out the door. Cheers
