Looked like it was handbags at noon when Mata was taken off there. He was probably a bit put out by the fact that he himself was only on the pitch for half an hour, and then lost his place with a minute to go to the player who in all likelihood will vastly restrict his playing time this season. We all know that there is previous between Mata and the Smug Git. It will be interesting to see if this latest unnecessary jibe from the manager with as much sensitivity as an overflowing ash tray pushes the Spaniard closer to the exit door. I for one would love a player of his quality at Spurs. He doesn't have the work rate of any of our '3', but is more than a match for all of them in terms of technique and ability. With less than 2 years on his contract he wouldn't be exorbitant but would no doubt have to take a significant pay cut. I'm willing to overlook the fact that he once wore a Chelsea shirt as he clearly hates Mourinho; and as the old adage goes: the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Would provide much needed experience and competition for vital positions, and could well be the 'spark' we're often missing against teams who are sponsored by Metroline. Could he be our VDV signing?
You have to feel sorry for Mata. Hardly as if his attitude is the problem, is it. He has had 3 wasted years at Jose Chelsky and Man Utd.
I would find it easier to feel sorry for him had his corner at the end of a certain game against Bayern Munich sailed over everyone's head and out for a throw instead of meeting Drogba's well-practiced bonce at the near post.
FA Cup with us again. I love this result....West Allotment Celtic 0 Consett 2. Did the allotment men play in wellies?
No doubt Jimmy Liddell will have commentary done for the Barca game. But will he do the Mainz game too ...
Funny article title in ESPN: "How Man U moved to the brink of signing Paul Pogba." The entire text of the article should be "They were the only ones fool enough to pay 100 million for him." You don't think Mainz would beat Barca 8-0?
Man U changing their name to the Manchester UEFA All Stars? I think Mourinho had better win the FA Cup,PL,EL,Interplanetary Cup and the Tottenham Sunday League! Whose bankrolling them anyway?
Mixed feelings about Pogba - for obvious reasons. If Mourinho can turn him into the dominant, game-changing midfielder he thinks he can be, then it will be worthwhile. But he's not that player yet.
Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman were both out of contract with Everton this summer. They found out that they weren't getting renewals by reading it on the club website, apparently. The pair both joined the club as schoolboys and are now 35, having played nearly 800 games for the side between them. Is it really that hard for clubs to have a little professionalism about these things? I'm sure that it's not unique to the Toffees, but that's really shabby. The fans would expect a lot more than that, I feel.
Not sure whether buying these superstars won't backfire on Utd. Mata doesn't surprise me because very often big money transfers between English clubs don't work. Torres and Carroll to name but two. Even RvP fell away.
Well for Man Utd it seems that getting into the CL is the only way in the post Fergie era for the manager to avoid the chop.
West Ham seal Ayew's signature with £20m in taxpayer money. He's a good player but goes missing in games and doesn't work hard at all. Seems a bit excessive and a bit of an underwhelming name considering the marquee players they've been leering at this past month.
