Can you imagine the interview process... you're in a position to offer a job which under normal circumstances many would queue up for. Can you imagine the questioning of the first born and how many have sat there and thought ' you're having a ****ing laugh'...

He's 'only' on £193k a year in the Wales job. He could earn 5 times that in the PL, money isn't everything, but with his stock so high he may as well cash in. Even working for our set of knobs.

The compo won't be significant, he's not in a well paid job (not in football terms).

Sounding him out and making sure he wants the job is standard practice.

I'd be happy with Coleman - especially if the alternative is Zola. Still expect it to be Phelan...

I don't think Phelan has any chance.

I just wonder if Zola would take it - he's stated to want complete control over football/squad matters, and money to spend this window - will he get this ? Isn't Phelan the only one saying he wants it - regardless of the "Head Coach" position limitations ?

I agree that he's no chance as a 'choice', but there's every chance he might get it by default if everyone else turns it down.

Completely underwhelmed with Coleman. With the crap going on at our club I expect us to go down regardless, at least with the likes of Zola we'd see some decent attacking football.

Coleman would bring a bit of belief, and badly needed grit to be up for a fight. I expect we'll go down - but I'd rather the team went down trying (I know the current owners won't be).

The one thing he'd bring is kudos from other managers, players and fans. His stock is pretty high.

Has anything like this circus ever happened to a club so close to the start of a season in the "bestiestist" league ???

At the moment, plenty of players will want to play for him.

I thought he came across very well in interviews at the Euro's. He is clearly very well respected by the Welsh squad and he's not afraid to try different things. HRK as a striker for one.

I'm not saying he'd be my 1st choice, but of all the links and allegedly interviewed/approached managers he'd be my preferred choice.

I was surprised how long it took us to ask the FAW permission to speak to Coleman. I can only presume they thought Martinez was a distinct possibility for a good while. They should have had all the irons in the fire but I guess this is Eeyore we're talking about.

If they were impressed with Martinez they should have offered him the job giving him 24 hours to come back, then straight to the FAW.

Most bookies still have Zola as favourite.

That's called common sense of which we have none.

I guess the bookies are also not convinced by the FAW statement. I would have expected a drifting in Colemans odds but perhaps they get a whiff of something else too.

It does feel like Zola is plan b - but favourite because the Coleman situation is much more complicated. If Ehab decides to pursue the Coleman route it could rumble on beyond the start of the season - and quite rightly Phelan should walk too.

Perhaps start the season without even a caretaker - perhaps Ehabs chance to sit on the bench...master plan complete :/
