I am sorry to see Diame go, as on his day he was a joy to watch. However at West Ham and with us, he had more anonymous games than good ones, and it will remain to be seen how he gets on at NU. Nevertheless at £4.5 million he is a snip, and as a lot of the NU fan are saying, they are likely to get big money for Sissoko, and to effectively replace him for $4.5m is a no brainer.
I'm not that bothered about Diame going, more that we are losing another player from an already depleted squad. Diame didn't live up to expectations for me, last season drifted in and out of games too often, more out than in. I think many said last season he was a luxury player we couldn't afford to carry, at times like playing with 10 men. Also, didn't SB say he couldn't play back to back games, so it will be very interesting to see how he gets on back in the Championship and how much more another Manager can get out of him? That said, he did probably leave his best til last, thanks Diame, much appreciated, good luck & bye!
Ridiculous. He's been superb all pre season. He'll have a great season this year. He did last year. I wonder if Ehab reads this forum and does what half the ****ing half wits want. Sack Bruce on here. Yep he does that. Diame's **** and wasnt that good. Ehab gets rid. He must be wondering what he's done wrong.
If somebody isn't bothered about Diame going I wonder who they would want to keep. All of the players have been hit or miss to a large degree. Dawson and Davies might be considered exceptions. Even Adobajo, who is good when he attacks, will struggle in the Premier League when he gets stranded too far forward. We don't seem to have a proper full back other than Tyman.
But he is perfectly correct - the transfer window does not end for another 29 days. There will be far more activity from all Premier league (and other) clubs after the season starts than before - there always is.
We know how good he is in the Championship, he was one of the best players in the league. There was some inconsistency, but he was one of the few players in the squad with some genuine quality. If you aren't bothered about him leaving, then who would bother you leaving?
Under normal circumstances I wouldn't mind Diame going as he was one of the most inconsistent players we've had. However, these are not normal times and NUFC have got him cheap in this market. We know the cash will not re-invested in a quality player so an already depleted squad is much worse off. How much worse is the going to get? I'm assuming Maguire next! Why would anybody stay at the moment?
So what about the four games before the transfer window closes? As difficult as it would be to get anything from them, we can't just write them off. Any new signings would need to gel with the current crop and they'd probably need to settle into the area.
We can't offer a 4 year deal and we won't be able to match NUFC wages. Diame has proved he is money motivated. There is no guarantee the magpies will get promoted and no guarantee that Benitez will stay there. If he doesn't perform or spends ages injured then the fans will turn on him. I'm only pissed off at him going because we are one more player down.
Unless the Allams really put their hands in their pockets soon the club will still be at a disadvantage because we are so far behind the rest of the clubs in the Premier League. We will struggle to attract quality players in the last week of the window if we don't look like we are going to do more than prop up the table.
He's moved to a club that's less of a shambles than we are, how could you blame him or any other player for that?
We can offer a three year deal but not a four year deal? Given the TV money we should be able to match Newcastle on wages. Maybe Newcastle will risk not having relegation clauses? If the Allam's plan is to pay a lot of the TV money to themselves then the club will come straight back down. If the Allams had been willing to sell the club to get their loans paid back then we could have competed in the Premier League.
These players with release clauses could have gone last season but there wasn't that much interest. And as said earlier the release clauses then may have been even less. Of course if you get a club that's throwing plenty of money around like Newcastle they might take a chance anyway.
He could be playing in the PL this season instead he wants to take the easy option. Can't blame him taking the cash though. It really is bad if we are in a worse position than Newcastle
You're at it yet again... "Maybe Newcastle..." If the Allam's..." If the Allams..." "We could have..." Whatever you do don't let facts get in the way when you can pass time away in idle supposition and speculation!
