@Nads Meanwhile, Moyes is hoping to make Croatia star Domagoj Vida his first signing for Sunderland. The Scot has identified the right-back area as one to strengthen and has moved for the Dynamo Kiev defender who was one of the stars of his country’s campaign at Euro 2016. Vida will cost around £5million and will fill one problem area for Moyes who is also keen to increase his attacking options given the injury being carried by Jermain Defoe. whee?
I'm away at the moment on holidays with limited wifi, hasn't the Pogba deal been sewn up jeez, thought our M'Vila deal was dragging!!!
To be honest without Sam controlling this guy he could mean trouble so I have no real problem is not signing him now although I'd love us to sign someone bloody quickly!!
Imagine it. Bloody fantastic. Someone mentioned a scot team were interested. Surely we can compete with them
Just seen on Twitter were interested in a right winger from Benfica called Salvio?? If you go on his wiki page it says current club SAFC. Could be complete bollox so don't shoot the messenger.
Sheffield Wednesday defender Tom Lees is the latest player to be linked with a move to Sunderland. The 25-year-old centre-back is wanted by several clubs including Premier League rivals Burnley and Championship sides Fulham and Derby County,
safc not doing much, meanwhile the madness continues. Everton have told Chelsea that Romelu Lukaku will start the season with them unless they meet his staggering £75million valuation. The Blues are ready to offer up to £68million for the 23-year-old striker having had a £57million bid rejected. But Everton are refusing to compromise despite accepting he wants to return to Stamford Bridge. Mirrorfootball exclusively revealed news of the rejected £57million bid on Saturday. It is understood talks between the two clubs have been ongoing for over a fortnight with Everton refusing to budge over the striker’s fee.
To be fair if Pogba is worth 100m Lukaku is probably worth 75m. Means we should be asking 40m for Kone. Let's face it Everton can afford it and we don't have to sell. Transfers have gone mad.
The bar has been heightened almost immeasurably! This is why I keep saying we under-value our players - people saying £5m for Cattermole is a joke by todays standards! Do I personally think anyone is worth that money? No! But if people are willing to pay it then so be it. Set the price high and let them try to talk you down when you're selling. Although we could do without selling anyone (well, Buckley/Bridcutt and the like excluded from that statement) and signing a few! Getting frustrating
A player's value is determined by more than ability mate, demand and marketability play a huge part in determining a fee, you might think Cattermole is £20m if Pogba is £100m but take into account marketability of each player, Juve are handing over one of football's biggest brands to whoever buys him. How much money is Lee Cattermole going to make a club if he leaves you? Arguably nothing. A Mondeo can do one third of the things that a Ferrari can do but it doesn't mean it should be worth one third of the price. Your most marketable player last season was probably M'Vila from a Sunderland fanbase point of view, it's been a while since you lot had that sort of quality in your central midfield, he'd move shirts, he'd sell merchandise, he could be 'the face' for sure, but by all accounts you lot are squabbling over pennies.
Newcastle getting Mo Diame from Hull for £4.5m release clause. 1. That's a player who you should be looking at, at that price. 2. Hull are fuuuuuuuuuucked, asset stripping before the season starts.
Diame was OK 2 seasons ago but he didn't look that good in the championship when I saw him (admittedly only a few times). Not sure whether he'd be worthwhile as an improvement - maybe OK for the squad. As for Hull - they're being destroyed not so slowly by the owner(s?) Such a pity...
He's a bit inconsistent to be fair. Then again, he can't be any worse than the dickhead he'd be replacing!
