Cheers Yorkie. The role of 'Soma' in the wars of the Bhagavad Gita is well known to those that have read it. But what was the equivalent for the Wehrmacht during World War 2 ?
When they invaded Poland and France, weren't they supposed to have been high on a crystal meth-like drug which made them feel invincible?
They were indeed BB. The use of performance enhancing drugs in warfare has been a consistent factor in nearly all wars. The Germans were using Pervatin, sometimes called 'Panzerschokolade', which suppressed the need for sleep, heightened adrenalin and also increased 'aggressive behaviour'. It was the original crystal meth. 35 million pills were dished out to the Wehrmacht in 1940 alone. On the Allied side - 200 million amphetamines were issued to the Americans, and 72 million to the British. Nearly all wars are followed by a detoxification period which we never, normally. hear about. Over to you.
Well how odd is that? I only ever heard about the Germans being 'drugged up'... How many gold medal winners were there in the 1896 Olympic Games?
Er - yes. Too easy... Each event winner received a silver medal, a crown of olive branches and a certificate. Over to you.
A bronze medal, crown of laurel, and certificate for second place. No third place getter, but each competitor was given a commemorative medal.
It is a cruise terminal...... or more correctly a disembarkation point for a cruise by tender I think
