So, let's say Palace/Everton/Swansea (for example) stump up the £5m and take Yann M'Vila after he's stated several times he wants to come back to Sunderland, how does that affect the fans?

Him and Defoe were your best players last season over the course of the season, £5m is a ****ing pittance for any club in this league now, you have every right to be livid if your man ****s this up.

Can't argue with any of that ........ I'm hoping there's a problem, that isn't our fault, that can be resolved.

If this is true we are gonna have to pull our fingers out and pay the £5 million. Because sooner or later somebody else will. Whether he only has 6 months left on his contract or not surely it is worth paying £5 million just to get him here pronto, get him up to fitness and get him used to Moyes's plans. All of this haggling means he is not gonna be 100% when the season starts. Pay £5 million now and have a player ready to go at the start, pay lets say £3 million in 2-3 weeks time and have a player not ready for a month or two. No brainer to me, however its not my money. I think there is something more to it than the transfer fee personally. Every summer we have a transfer saga!

This is frustrating and the Echo aren't really helping.

I hope we don't **** it up, or get our pants pulled down. time for Mr Bain to earn his stripes

This is a ****ing joke.

Pay the ****ing money you cock suckers. We are always the club cutting corners.

I honestly don't think that its the £5 million holding up the deal. If it is I will be flabbergasted! Possibly his wages? I know he is expected to take a pay cut but by how much could be the stumbling block. He is a complicated, controversial character by all accounts, whose on the books of a complicated controversial football club, so it could be anything that's delaying things!

I get all that mate but we as a club seem to complicate everything.

We did a great job of swiftly fixing the managerial situation and I'd hoped for a new leaf, but delaying the arrival of a key player is again of massive detriment to the team.

We drag our feet over every signing, words can't describe how livid I will be if someone swoops in, the lad wants to be here and he is above our current level, just get the ****ing deal done!

Apparently we are not wanting to pay £5 million
Well just pay the money he will reap dividends and will be worth a lot more next season

It's a joke Vince, £5million is peanuts, and we risk losing him and more importantly not having him for the start of the season?

This is horrific planning and penny pinching, size of the TV deal and we are holding off on a close to world class player?

We are live on Sky 4 times, there's about £3million unexpected straight off!

I agree, its a no brainer. That's why I think there is more to it and it could possibly be out of our hands. If the delay is over the £5 million and the ball is in our court then I fear for our future if we are counting the pennies whilst a genuine next level player could slip through our fingers. Everybody else is risking tens of millions over risky players whilst we haggle over £5 million with a player who everyone knows is more than suitable. We are ****ed if that's the case.

It's gone on throughout Short reign, we delay, delay, delay then panic buy some ****e on a long contract who flops and lose millions.

This lad is proven already there is no risk.

Like I say, we have been guilty of this in the past but to pass up on a potential £20+million player? I don't think asking £5 million for him is unreasonable to be fair. A quality player for at least a couple of seasons then potentially at least doubling your money? If we are this tight in the transfer market then it is only a matter of time before we are relegated.
