The left back was released by QPR in the summer after not making a single appearance for the West London club last season.

The defender has recently been training with German side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, but has opted to join Forest in the Championship.

QPR boss, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has put in place a new wage structure to offload any players on a significant wage in order to balance the books, with Traore initially receiving £25,000 a week at Loftus Road.

Traore came through the youth ranks at Arsenal, spending time on loan at Portsmouth and even Italian champions Juventus back in 2011, before joining QPR in the Premier League.

The full back is expected to put pen to paper at the City Ground imminently and could feature in their friendly against Hull City this Saturday.

personally i liked him but he was one of those players who got injured at times that he was playing well, and sometimes football is like that with a rub of the green he could have been one of the top defenders in the country, certainly in this division he could really do the buisiness

Obviously a bad egg. His best mate was Adel, surely that tells us enough.

Quite amazing that a manager would look at what Traore does, looks at his record and thinks "yeah worth a punt on a three year deal". They'll do well to get fifty games out of him.

Whisper it and keep a straight face. I wonder if they need a big young tall defender with an impressive cv as well? Anyone who has played for Spurs, Southampton, Liverpool and England once must be a fantastic prospect. In fact I would tell them that if he had been in the team against Iceland, they wouldn't have scored at all and he'd have popped up at the other end to score from a couple of corners. We could also say that he had learned his trade from the best. Rio Ferdinand.

One, ONE good cross is all I can remember he's done for us in FIVE years. How on earth can Forest have come to the conclusion that he's worth a try???

That cross at the Etihad cost us more than £8,8 million in wages (3 years at £40k a week and 2 years at £25k a week) + £1,2 million in transfer fee, a total of £10 million over 5 years. It's up there with some of the worst transfers I can remember.

I hate to admit it but I didn't have a problem when we offered him a new contract. It shows you that you can't always be right.

TBF. I do remember another one at Stoke when he popped it up beautifully for the Iceman to head in during the only game that season that I saw and enjoyed. I saw 13 or 14 live that year. Apparently he played quite well in the Redknapp promotion season as well. He looked like a knackered donkey to me but then what do I know. I always thought the purpose of a defender was that he knew how to defend. I have never seen any evidence that he could defend properly.

Scored a good goal at Bournemouth- one of his two for the club in however many games. His one run of form came when his contract was running out. Wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

He was a full back who couldn't defend. Signed after Arsenal lost 8-2 at ManUre, that should have been a clue. Who is managing Forest these days? I'd buy him a white stick...

He came on from the bench when we drew 3-3 at villa 2 seasons ago and played very well on the wing. I still believed at that point.
