Not sure, Giggs has little management experience, he has no experience in relegation fights as a player or manager. I may be wrong but I bet his knowledge of players outside the top flight is limited. Why would you give Giggs a budget to spend in this situation Wrong time for giggs I'm afraid he needs to learn his trade elsewhere
They will keep Phelan on as manager i reckon, at least for the time being or until the club is sold which is a bit of a pipe dream at the moment. Ehab will sanction / deal with most if not all potential transfers, but again until the club is sold i reckon this will only be bargain basement signings. (Hopefully not but it is just the way i see it going)
I agree. Remember how everyone talked up Solksjaer when he went to Cardiff? Gary Neville anyone? Giggs would be similarly out of his depth. He's lived in the Man U bubble all his life, he has no idea of life outside his gilded cage. No, no, no.
Lots of talk about giggs, not sure why on two counts, firstly he has little to no experience of managing nor does he have experience or being involved in a **** team as a player or coach, but secondly from his perspective if he does want to make it as manager, our ****storm of a club isn't going to do him any favours, even if the allams give some money to spend it won't be a lot and it'll be a long hard horrible season
The only Man U players from the SAF years I can think of who have made a success of management have been Mark Hughes and Steve Bruce. Ferguson was a one-off, you can't hope to simply adopt his tactics and managerial techniques and hope to succeed - the man himself has gravitas, charisma, and a will of iron. You can't hope to copy those qualities. They are innate.
^^This ...... SAF always said (apologies, not verbatim), ''don't look at the club, look at owners'' - I read that he'd warned Solksjaer about Cardiff, he'll be giving Giggs advice I'm sure.
From Giggsy's point of view it may well be an ideal gig to take. He knows it's a hopeless basket-case of a situation, with relegation almost guaranteed, so would be excellent experience for him to be involved in a relegation battle. He also would think that possibly before the start of the January window the club might get new owners, who may want to retain him and plough significant cash at the problem. With a bit of luck & judicious recruitment in the winter window, he may see a chance of survival. That would be at least one full year of PL management under his belt, and let's face it, he was never ever going to get to manage a PL team so early in his new career. An opportunity to build his own backroom team too. His reputation is unlikely to suffer given that the whole world knows he stepped into an almost impossible challenge. Go for it Ryan.
So, Bruce has now gone. He is history. The Owners are as unpopular as they've ever been. There will be no change of ownership talks until at least the end of the transfer window. We have some injuries to big players. Is it the end of the world as some on here seem to be claiming? Not at all. To a new manager coming in there are opportunities. We have a better squad than last time we got promoted - Jakupovitch, Krusiak, Elmo, Davies, Maguire, Robertson, Livermore, Huddlestone, Meyler, Clucas, Mahoney, Diame, Snodgrass, Hernandez, Diomande, Odemwinge(possibly), Luer, Tymon, Lenihan. Dawson, McGregor and Bruce Jnr to come back at some stage. With a few more additions that is not a bad squad compared to some of our competitors. Will we get them? Yes, I believe we will but only time will tell. There is still a long way to go to the end of the transfer window & once we get a new Manager in he will still have time to pick his own players and, if backed by the owners, bring them in. Quite a few ifs and buts in there, but I continue to be optimistic & looking forward to that first match at home to Leicester. Bring it on!
It will be Phelan with directive to only bring in cheap free transfers and use his allowance of loans in 6 month terms. The owners won't pay for players they certainly won't pay for a manager, especially when they have someone doing the job.
We more than 'a few new additions', we need 8-10 new players (assuming we do get them, I hope you can learn their names, as you've got three of the existing ones wrong). We can't possibly get that many players on frees/loans, we'll have to pay for some of them.
