I can't imagine Big Sam being timid or scared of the media and that has to be a top priority in his new job. If you can see those bastards off you have half a chance.
Forget the media representation of the man, here is a guy who is confident in his skin, knows his own mind and is not afraid to follow it. He also has a sense of humour. What more could you want? Ok apart from football?

Bad decision by Alistair Cook not to enforce the follow-on. Why are England adding unnecessary runs whilst taking time out of the game when there is typically plenty of Manchester rain around? Surely he should have been looking to take another 10 Pakistan wickets as quickly as possible.
Been a good game up to now with Root's 254 and 4 catches, Cook himself getting a hundred and good bowling from all the England bowlers.

I wonder how much influence this will have on games? Might give extra-time a little more energy.
