A snippet from the BBC gossip page:- There'd be nosebleeds aplenty in Suffolk if they achieved dreamy stats like this at the Portaloo Serie A side Lazio sold just 11 season tickets for the next campaign on the first day of sales. Fans are unhappy with president Claudio Lotito after a poor 2015-16 and earlier this month Marcelo Bielsa quit as head coach after just two days.
Bit of a side-swipe at the club from ex 'keeper Jake Kean on joining the Owls: “I went to Norwich but kind of under false pretenses. I thought I was in with more of a shot of playing than I was. “It was clear from a couple of days of being there that John [Ruddy] was the number one and I wasn’t going to get a fair crack at it. It’s why I took the opportunity to go out on loan and get games." For what it's worth, JK, now you know exactly just how Hooper, Becchio, Laffrety and several others have felt
I have absolute faith that the FA bosses will appoint the right man to be the next England manager. Taken from the BBC website - The appointment of a new England manager is "getting close", says the Football Association's chief executive Martin Glenn. Hull City manager Steve Bruce and Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce have been interviewed about succeeding Roy Hodgson, who resigned after the shock last-16 defeat by Iceland at Euro 2016. "We've consulted widely in the game and spoken to a handful of people," Glenn told BBC sports editor Dan Roan. "The new manager's got to be someone who can inspire people."
Sounds like they've 'scoured every inch of Europe', BH - what more can we really expect? The ideal candidate was in our back pocket the whole time
Big same to be names England boss in the next 24 hours. Sunderland fans are going to be gutted/raging. Terrible time for the manager to go! Especially after all he did last season. I'd be very worry if I was a Sunderland fan. Big Sam brings stability and safety. Which I'm sure after the last few seasons, the Sunderland fans would have been pretty hopeful for this season. I'm guessing most England fans will be annoyed with the appointment. I personally think he's the best English manager available. I'm fairly happy with it. He's deserved this chance. I no longer expect anything from England, so I'm interested to see what impact he can make. Hopefully he should sort our defence out.
I see Angus Gunn came on for Man City against Bayern. He conceded the winning goal, but still, praise indeed from Pep to put him in.
Wenger turns down the job as England manager and they have to settle for BIG Sam!! Moyes to Sunderland!!
Did promotion just get harder still? Wolves bought by a Chinese conglomerate. This season will probably come to soon for them at a guess, but more wealthy backers coming into English footy will ultimately keep making it harder for well run clubs that don't have bottomless pockets. Bah!
I think Big Sam is the best man for the job. I really think he will motivate them better, pick players on form and play football with a structure to suit our limited playing resources. He's the guy to get things organised and certainly seems to be able to raise teams form when he goes there. Hopefully the same will be said for England. Before he was appointed I had no wish to put myself through watching us play. So that really hasn't changed. But team selections will be a good deal more interesting and curiousity will likely get the better of me and I'll have to see what he can do (Granted that would have likely been the same for any new manager, but him in a top job, a little more so!) I'm just happy it didn't go to Rednapp or worse still that prized bellend Hoddle! Bah!
I'm happy with Allardyce as manager - a proven manager with the ability to organise, motivate and inspire - something that the England team has lacked since Sir Bobby's time. It will also be interesting to see how he deals with the shadow puppets who runs the FA - he'll have a thing or two to say to them no doubt. Good luck Big Sam.
Yes General, it certainly is going to get harder to get out of the Championship from now on and it seems it's all about money these days and never mind the devoted fans. Looks as though Pogba is definitely going to OT, so with wages, that's roughly £250M on 2 players!!! #ludicrous
That, if true, quite frankly is despicable. And it's just one deal for one player, I wonder how many others are on his books and due for a tout round / phone call Imagine what leagues 1 and 2 could do with just 10% of that money - difference between sink and swim for many of them
So fans who justifiably moan at £55, £60, £70 a ticket ain't seen nothin' yet!! Do you think the Sky and BT moguls envisage a world where no one actually attends matches, they all stay at home and watch on those respective pay-per-view networks. Effectively 'behind closed doors' football Time for another
Football is no longer value for money - the value has been sucked out of it by the TV companies and it is rapidly becoming a "members only" elite cartel. I'd rather spend my hard earned on gigs nowadays - going to the Rambln Man Festival in Kent this weekend - £130 for two days of rocking - 20 hrs of live music for more or less the same price as 180 minutes of football - which offers better "value" I wonder ??
Heard that on the way home. It's certainly a worry. It's hard to be a normal football club these days.
