Didn't we admit to making an offer prior to the euros, weren't other players from other countries allowed to leave for a short time to sort out moves. It could have been done if we really wanted it to.
They offered about £8m in June, that I think was because of interest in Ki imo from Stoke, but didn't go back with an improved offer, I wonder if it was because of the level of the offer for Ki? And I think that should his offer been higher they would have done it. And I seriously doubt Coleman and Wales would have allowed him to leave camp to do this. That's why nothing would have been done during the championship
i don't think we signed Ki to score goals either , the goals were a bonus . Guidolin would never let Ki go unless it was above 12 million . IMO . We will see how much Ki plays this season and how he does healthy and away from Monks influence . And contrary to popular belief , I have nothing against Allen .. Except the price tag .
This is the only scenario that works for me , either that or he finishes his contract and comes to us on the free .
[ With Dyer and Routledge playing the majority of games in the " Swansea Way " of playing wingers , indeed we did .Siggy scored goals , Ki scored goals , Gomis scored goals after Bony left .We had as many wins when Bony left as we did when Bony was with us and with less games . BUT Monk sh:t the bed the next season ditching Dyer and Routledge for Montero and Ayew for starters . We lost our shape , and Monk refused to except that anything was wrong and kept playing the same failing style game after game . Once Monk was ditched , things picked us especially when Routledge and Britton was added and Ayew was taken off the wing .
I dont give a toss about who we have in our team as that is irrelevant. . The point here is joe came on the market and we know that he is better than we currently have and an obvious choice to take over the engine room job from leon.. If Jenkins had been smart enough we could have had Joe for £10m before the Euros but skinflint goes and offers £8m and now it looks as if we have lost him to one of our rivals for £13m.......Im sick and tired of losing out on players who are not over the top in price today because we wont pay the going rate......You cant do that in the premiership today or you will never get your man.......Most of our rivals were snapping up players in the first week of the window opening and that is what you must do to get your man before anyone else makes a bid......you get in you pay the asking price and you get your man, no messing about, no haggling or you will lose your man.......Joe was a snip at £10m and others like Austin,Townsend ,Bony even if we were switched on and went for it.......Its the same old story for a few years now and im sick of the way we do things today....
Or you could say Fer replaced Shelvey as he came into the squad on Shelvey moving to Newcastle. Surely we tried to sign a player of a similar ilk to the one moving on.
I think Fer wasn't even around when Britton and Routledge started playing regular along with Ayew moving up front
He was brought in to replace Shelvey, so started playing I think the beginning of feb, maybe late January. So how that fits in I don't know.
The moment Shelvey stopped playing , Britton started ... That's indisputable . And Britton played alongside Ki game after game . And along with the moment Britton started playing instead of Shelvey , Routledge started playing also and Ayew moved to the middle FACT . Fer came to us a few games after Ki was injured , plain and simple .
Cork , Ki and Siggy are my starters this season , with Britton and Fer doing spot duty . Cork is the player I'm most excited about to watch this season ... bar none . As far as I'm concerned , Cork's goal was goal of the season for me . Stole the ball , and moved toward their end and unleashed an unstoppable goal .
A midfield 3 of Allen Cork and Siggy would have been superb then add to that chances with Ki and Fer that is good starters and great interchange.
If Allen came in .....Cork and Siggy are automatic , Fer , Ki and Allen are fighting for the final spot ...we all have our opinions and mind is you don't break your transfer record on a player whose coming from a team that he played just over 700 minutes for and fighting for a spot . Also , Chadli is not worth the money the Spurs want either and hope we don't get him
I totally agree with you on Chadli and it is a non starter, for me allen has more engine than either Fer or Ki.
And I respect your opinion , my only problem is there are Britton , Fer and Ki already fighting for 1 spot .Breaking our transfer record to throw a 4th player in the fight just isn't sound especially given our striker situation .
