i sincerely doubt we are adding ANOTHER attacking midfielder. buy hey slosh the cash about i don't mind at all. I'm sure when palace and west ham panic and meet the asking price for benteke we will have balanced the books. Markovic has been written off already
If you get another attacking midfielder, The klopp definitely doesn't have any control. It just sounds like the transfer committee is stock piling players!
a reasonable assumption. Though klopp has said two things 1. after new contract he was said to be in total control 2. he talked in may about defensive signings, thus far he's got a keeper, a center half (reserve) and Mane who does improve our right side. We agreed to take matip in january and competed that move this summer so thats another CB. 3 of that 4 seem to have klopp finger prints.... but mane could be one too. 3 defensive signings thus far and one attacker and now wijnaldum... so... after that I'd assume the next move should be an LB.
Mweh...if we get lots of cm and am in and lots go out, I see no problem We've whinged in the past about selling before replacing. We've pretty much agreed our midfield needed a dressing and that many of our AM's were hardly showing undroppable form. We said as an excuse that he wasn't using "his team" So like Brendan before him. I'll wait to see how much he makes this " his team" after 2 windows and then see how he lines them up. I'll judge him after 3 years though. Honestly don't give a stuff about "how much" each acquisition costs. Don't love any of the existing squad enough to cry if they go...
Whilst i don't disagree you have a lot of exciting players can you not see how unbalanced your team will be if you keep on buying more AMs like max meyer XD. I don't believe you have any real width. Clyne isn't bad and Moreno i think is overrated. Mane i guess could play on the wing but everyone else is pretty much an AM. Lallana, coutinho, firmino, (havent seen meyer), Milner (if he even counts), Wijnaldum, none of these can beat a full back and all tend to drift inside. You only have space for 1 AM!
If this Gini chap is the alternative to Zelinski, then he's been bought into play along side Can.. A role he played when at PSV... If so, Milner, Henderson could/may have to get used to life on the bench! Said it yesterday, would like to see the addition of a DM and LB to the business we've already done. LB to challange Moreno and a DM to be bought in when we play the "better" sides. ------------- Karius Clyne - Lovern - Matip - Moreno ------------ Gini - Can ---- Mane - Firmino - Coutinho ------------ Sturridge Or ------------- Karius Clyne - Sakho - Matip - New LB? -------- Gini - Can - Grujic ---- Mane - Firmino - Coutinh Or ------------- Karius Clyne - Lovern - Matip - Moreno ------------ Hendo - Can ---- Lallana - Firmino - Coutinho ------------ Origi Or Loads more options and certain amount of flexibility in formations! We proved towards the end of last season we can score, we "just" need to defend better.. much better!
Overrated? Everyone on here thinks he's terrible!! I'm actually quite liking how our squad is taking shape. The window is far from over, they'll be some outgoings so although it might seem unbalanced now, I'm sure Klopp knows what he's doing. He strengthened from the back first. A new left back is a must, anything else is a bonus (assuming we get Gini).
Oh I agree with you as it currently stands but if we are buying to replace players Klopp would prefer gone or at least not first team it doesn't necessarily follow that he's ignoring the areas you have highlighted. We've been linked to a few players in the "wide" and defensive areas we are lacking. It's just a matter of whether Klopp gets the targets he wants and if not whether he considers available alternatives better than what he's already got. For too long we've brought in an average player because we missed our preferred target only to sell 3 years later and do the same again. As I've said I'll wait and see who arrives by end of window..how he sets up come opening of season etc...and of course results lol There's also the thing that Klopp puts a lot of weight behind training the team as a unit...he'll have an entire summer and much more time midweek this season. Let's see if those he doesn't throw out are as good as he thinks they may be.
Sorry i should have been a bit more clear. I was talking about Moreno in terms of him going forward and providing attacking impetus. I know everyone thinks he **** at the back but he's polarises on how much he offers going forward. Technically hes not bad, he's not a bad striker of the ball and he's pretty pacy and has bags of energy. He just never seems to produce anything end product wise, his crossings pretty bad, he has poor decision making and for all his shooting skills, he doesn't really score that many imo (unlike riise)
I think you guys will do well irrespective of who you buy and the balance of your team. I think Klopps strength is in yielding a good unit and with his fondness for a high pressing game and you guys playing part time football like us, i reckon you will pip 4th spot this year even though there are like 7 teams vying for top 4
Still young enough to develop as well. He's played well when alongside Sakho. As with a few others in the squad, he won't ever be praised when he has a good game but always criticised when he has a bad one. Which is the opposite for some of our other players (namely the local piece of **** who is about to be shipped off). The recent links to Amavi are exciting as well as I think he's a solid all round full back.
