HRK seems like a good signing to me. His hold up play seems really good which is exactly what we're going to need as a release when we're under pressure. I don't see him banging loads of goals in for us necessarily but I think he'll add much more to our game. Shane Long was used in a similar way except he was better at stretching defensive lines. If this comes off we still need a good finisher though.
I'm ok with hRK as he's on a free as long as Bruce doesn't see him as the solution to our attacking issues. If he signs Him and that's it up front I'd be worried
No, it's definitely a majority against. For nothing, it's a good signing. As Benjo clearly points out - his hold up play in the Euros was outstanding, we haven't had that for years. He played for Reading on the wing, for Wales he played up front which is why he was more effective. He scored 7 goals in the PL for Reading in the 2012/2013 season. He can score, he just needs to be played in the right position.
I just don't think he will be as effective as people think he will. Reading fans don't really seem bothered that he's gone. I don't understand why people are so happy we are after him; I think the fact we are about to make a signing is what is making people think he's worth it, they just want bodies in and don't seem to concerned about quality. He might turn out to be alright, but I've not seen anything that's made me think he'll be anything other than less than average.
He played on the wing for Reading. He played as a striker for Wales. I was genuinely impressed with him at the Euros and he did remind me of Shane Long in his style of play. On a side note Southampton seem to be prepared to listen to offers for Tadic - he'd be great if affordable.
Sterling, it all depends on what role you see him playing here. For me he's the hold up player we need. If he were to be our primary finisher I'd also be worried, but looking at how Bruce likes to play I can see him wanting to make the most out of the hold up play. If that ends up being the case then I think this could be a good signing for us. It's all about horses for courses and what Bruce is planning in terms of tactics in this upcoming season. Hopefully he's learnt a few things since the last time around. No more square pegs please. Not that this was down to Bruce but I genuinely think we'd have still been in the prem now if we'd not cashed in on Shane Long. As it stands, Hernandez is going to have to be very clinical this season.
Hal Robson-Kanu is obviously about to sign, so we'll need to get behind him whatever anyone thinks of his ability, he won't be the only striker signing.
Yep, just as I got behind Maloney last season once he signed. Once they pull on the B&A I'll hope they succeed. Is the signing imminent?
I've no idea what stage the deal is at, but the Allams will want to show they've signed someone and he's a free agent, so I'd expect it to be concluded fairly quickly.
Robson-Kanu is not a blow your socks off signing, but could work well with Hernandez. If he turns out to be a foil for Abel then it will turn out to be a good signing.
