OF all the videos and blood and gore of the pictures this is the one I spoke of the other night that just made me cry....and I mean properly cry. I think it is possibly because it just resonates because whether that is your child, spouse, family member, friend under that blanket it just resonates because that could be you sat there:

At Christmas time I use Amazon a lot as I don't like trawling round the shops....in fact I have even purchased furniture from them with no problems at all.

I bought a $500 flat screen from them for my dad as a Christmas present one year. I split the price with my sister. She was worried about buying something like that online. I told her I bought it online not for the convenience but because I trust them much more than I do Best Buy.

Do they have Amazon Same Day Delivery in Southampton? I have an extremely lazy friend who orders from them almost daily, despite the surcharge that makes it a massive ripoff for small items. I was having dinner with him at a restaurant once and he ordered a quart of ice cream for desert. Then complained about the fact that he couldn't get it delivered to the restaurant and would instead have to drive home to get it.

Sorry. But should All of this conversation not be on the Politics thread? ( my comments included) .
It isn't politics.

Turkish guy who now lives in US.

Current situation:
Pro-AKP thugs have been celebrating their "Democracy Festival" after beating the crap out of unarmed soldiers who surrendered. They've been terrorizing (insulting, trashing and trying to run them over in their cars) especially women and boys who don't dress "appropriately."

My parents also told me this an hour ago. Looting everywhere it seems.

Liveleak video where Erdogan supporters apparently cut a soldiers throat.

Be careful when on social media.

Is anyone else following the events in Turkey and thinking literally 'what the ****?'
This is supposed to be a modern, civilised nation and it has just become so barbaric. I am shocked and pretty nervous at how this situation could unfold.
At the crossroads of the world... it was ever thus... but and it is a big but ... we have been here before in my life time.. A political volcano, but containable. Is it worse than the last time? Or does the instant communication and miscommunication that feeds 24 hour news exaggerate? What's clear is that Cameron's assertion that it would take Turkey at least another 30 years.... seems more apposite than the Brexit bullshit... hey ho COYS

Sorry to throw a question that seems so left in amongst this horror that is happening around the world, but...

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced portable charger for Apple devices please? I'm assuming an apple one would be a dent in the wallet.
Strange coincidence... I ordered an iPhone 5c case that charges your phone if you switch it on, on Thursday, it arrived yesterday. Off Amazon. £10 I think.

says it all, really. Gives Remainers a bad name.

Rod Liddle sums up Brexit vote, and the aftermath, brilliantly:

8th paragraph onward. The rest is pretty good too.
Thanks for that link, makes me glad im not alone thinking what I think. Very funny article, and cuts where it needs to...i appreciate he's not everybody's ideal dinner guest but I like what he writes and how he says it.

So, given the current situation in Turkey and the fact that I have a holiday booked there in 3 weeks...what book should I take with me to read by the pool whilst absolutely nothing untoward happens and I have a great holiday?

Bit too close for comfort for some, I fear? :emoticon-0106-cryin <wah> <grr>..........:emoticon-0118-yawn: :emoticon-0113-sleep
But that's the beauty of free speech, it means there is always something for everyone regardless of who doesnt like it.
I didn't find it remotely controversial, some may. I don't care why people don't like it as long as they understand the reasons why they object and consider those reasons good.
