Looks as though both Mahrez and Kante COULD be on their way out of Leicester if the Mirror is to be believed -
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leicester-face-double-transfer-hammer-8431111

Closer to home, AN's view of the current transfer market - “When clubs like Newcastle and Aston Villa are prepared to pay vast amounts of money for the Championship then it inflates the price,” he said. “Everyone thinks then if that particular player is worth so much then so is mine. All of sudden there is a couple of million pound added to every player. There are key areas we need to strengthen and they are where I am focusing. If we have two players already for a position then I am not looking to add a third. I have some areas and that is where all our efforts are. We will be doing business before the end of the window. No doubt about that. I am not going to specify what positions we are looking for but we have a lot of irons in a lot of fires and hopefully something will happen quite soon.”

I'd still like to see some more signings sooner rather than later!!!

We have apparently entered the scrap for Grant Hanley with both Newcastle and Wednesday having bid £5m. Probably something to do with Alan Irvine.
I'm not sure on him. He's a decent player and everything, but he's a hot head. Picks up yellows pretty regulalry. Could be a bit of a liability. He is a hard working leader though. At 24, with all his Championship experience, he's the kind of player we should be looking at. I think Newcastle would be his first choice though.

Possibly so, FML, but Hanley does play alongside Martin for Scotland and will also know Whittaker, Dorrans, and Naismith as well. There is also his connection with Alan Irvine, who was Assistant Manager at Blackburn until he moved to CR.

AN's comments on two players at every position is interesting. Obviously we need a second striker and we only have Olsson and Toffolo at LB. Canos is also our only senior player at WR, although Jarvis and even Odjidja-Ofoe can also play there. The current rumours about CBs suggests that he's looking to strengthen there as well but other positions would seem to be covered.

There is also the question of young players trying to break into the squad. Josh looks to be the one most likely to succeed and Jacob could also have a chance at RW, given AN's comments yesterday ("Alex Neil talking up the young, exciting aspect of his squad. Mentioning Canos and The Murphys in particular.") Toffolo is our only other LB, though Whittaker can also play there. Then there are Thompson, Maddison, McGrandles, Godfrey, Cantwell and Morris trying to make the 26-28 man squad AN is aiming to take to Austria.

The 2 Murphys, Maddison, Toffolo I would really like to see involved in the match day squad regularly. I think he'd probably loan out Morris again, Thompson, Godfrey. McGrandles and Cantwell I think would be nice to see some playing time for the first team, but I think it's unlikely.

I don't normally have a great deal of sympathy for any other team but this would be really horrible to see, even from my G & Y perspective. Not suggesting the Foxes would become automatic relegation fodder but it could be a far tougher season than hoped for by their fans, and the European experience might not turn out to be half as much fun.

I think it would be great to see those youngsters in or around the squad!!

Same here. I think it would give the supporters a lift to blood some of this young talent at last. Josh Murphy needs to be playing at least from the bench, otherwise we should probably let him build a career elsewhere. So we need to use him before we lose him. Toffolo would be close to that status too, in my opinion.

I'd agree with this. We've seen glimpses of what both can do, now after lengthy loan spells elsewhere, it's high time they got a chance to shine within our own set up rather than continue to benefit lower league sides.

I think Championship level with us is when we have to do this. Even if it's bringing them on for 20 minutes from the bench and a few starts at first. I'd love to see Jacob used the same, but I feel there is the room with him, to loan him to a Championship team for 1 more season. Up his competition level from Coventry last year, see if he adapts. Maybe a loan for a few months, or 6 month loan with a recall clause. Maddison I think will be given a chance. So much hype about him, and beating Big teams to him, I think he will expect to be in our squad this season.

But don't forget AN's philosophy of preferring tried and tested 'warhorses' like Dorrans, Naismith etc.
I fear that all the young guys will be packed away or loaned out once again as 'ones for the future'.
Well Mr Neil, after last season's debacle, can I suggest the future begins now! <ok>

I think it's a bit different this season. He came in half way through a season with us out of the running. He had to win a very high % of games to scrape into the playoffs.

Premiership season, there was so much pressure, every point was precious. If he was seen to keep playing un-tested kids he would have been ripped apart. The kids could have been in a situation and state of mind that's hard to recover from.

This is a new season, clean slate where we have a strong squad compared to a lot of the league. This is the season he needs to start blooding the prospects. It's a long season, 2 games a week, 2 cup competitions.

If he doesn't do it this season, then that is his philosophy, and he'll never do it.

But AN's tenure at Accies was noted for his willingness to give youngsters a chance, so he is obviously not adverse to doing this. But while admittedly the scenario is very different at City, I do expect at least a couple of youngsters to feature in the squad fairly regularly this season.
