    Not NCFC related, but:-
    Dan O'Hagan ‏@danohagan
Reports Leroy Sané is set to join Man City for £40m. Great business for Schalke.
Huge potential, but by no means finished article.

I can clearly remember when Trevor Francis went for £1M and thinking WOW!!!!

Now we get some on here moaning that someone only cost £2.5M so he can't be any good!

He's a fantastic talent. Going to be a great player. £40M is a lot of money though!

The Francis thing was back in 1979/80!
There were no oligarchs or sheikhs or helicopters involved in football back then.
Very few teams can afford to pay that sort of money, so in the absence of any news yet again from the fortress, I thought I'd mention it. And £40m is bugger all these days, see what Pogba is likely to be sold for, twice that <yikes>
I'm glad we're not on that particular carousel, because once the fans get on they never want to get off.
Just ask Portsmouth. I'd rather be 'yo yo' than 'verge of extincto'!

VERY true Cromer and Dave - especially the reference to Portsmouth and where they now find themselves.
Yes, perhaps one day we'll have very wealthy owners, but I'm happy with us occasionally 'dining at the top table!!!' <ok>

Well, just to put it firmly into focus, Wesley Hoolahan wasn't even a twinkle back in the day.
Even when the PL was formed in 92/93, virtually any of the teams competing had a fair crack at it.
How's this for a snapshot of Oct 1992. Not a Manc or a Scouser anywhere to be seen ...well, not till far later in the season <wah>
Only two of the then top eight are currently PL clubs!!

A buy-back clause, when tripped by the original seller, allows that club and any others willing to meet the agreed upon price to negotiate with the player. It's then up to the player to decide if he wants to go. So, yes, you're correct "There are no contracts where a player is sold only to be bought back whenever the selling club feels like it." Buy-backs seem to to be common where Spanish clubs are involved, as in the case of Denis Suarez for example. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/denis-suar...me-luis-enriques-first-summer-signing-1564756

As for The Tevez Third Party rule, I think you're right: there are no race horses in English football :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I find this kind of stuff fascinating. And difficult. That's why I prefer simple buy -sell agreements.

The Kop article admits that it has no details of the agreement, so I'm inclined to believe the Paddy Davitt version which seems consistent with the legalities of football contracts.

EDIT: I've just seen this: "Alex Neil has just said in this morning's presser that there is no buy back clause, although Liverpool have first refusal in any future sale of Canos."

Thank you Rick, that does at least make more sense, as long as we can set our own price, if and when that time comes.

...and nor will we at that price, just hope Brady is happy with that.

More specific wording from Paddy Davitt at the Presser: "AN at Colney reiterating Canos deal. #lfc have first refusal but only if #ncfc want to sell down the line. No set figs"

That seems pretty clear. AN has also stressed that we will definitely be doing more business in the transfer window.

Filip Helander anybody? Is he better than what we have? Worth a punt? at 23 he could be worth a punt. Imagine him and Big Timm at the back, we would be formidable in the air!

    Bah!

Another interesting comment on AN at the Presser this morning, this time from Chris Goreham:

"Alex Neil talking up the young, exciting aspect of his #ncfc squad. Mentioning Canos and The Murphys in particular."

Like the sound of that! He also added:

"not going to specify positions but we have a lot of irons in the fire. Hopefully something drops soon."

Looks promising, especially as he is left-footed whereas all of our current CBs are right-footed.

Not bad, not bad. Decent defender and a bit of potential. I would say he would be an improvement on Bassong, Turner and Martin at CB. So wouldn't be unhappy with that as a signing.

6'4, 23, strong player, good in the air.

If we have to compete with Newcastle for him then we don't really have a chance, much more clout that us!
