What a great video. His defensive play looks great! Looks like a wing-back at times. He also looks like he's packed full of flair and energy. I can definitely see him making things happen in a dull, tight match. I'm a bit more excited to see him now.

He looks like he would rather be playing football than anything else in the world.

Surely ' keeping us financially viable ' is the main job of a Chief Exec?

Pleased that we've got some business done reasonably early, and the gap in the squad from Redmond's departure has been swiftly filled. It would appear that true to what the board said, the lack of a chief exec hasn't stopped business being done. McNally may have got the deal done for 10p and a dog biscuit, or he could have lowballed Liverpool and lost the player to someone else, we'll never know.

Speaking of other clubs, the only thing that stops me raving profusely about Canos before a ball's been kicked in anger is the calibre of club we were supposedly up against. I'm not sure Bristol City, Reading and Fulham have quite the same objective for the coming season as we do. But then he wouldn't be expensive enough for Newcastle or Villa, so it's probably a nothing-argument.

Bristol City are recruiting well the past few seasons, they are a growing club. I also think that Reading and Fulham do well with signing young talent and making them into highly chased prospects. I don't think it's a negative to beat those clubs to him, I think I'd be worried if no other clubs wanted him.

I think it's a great signing - a young, hungry player. The proof will be on the pitch for sure, but we've filled Redmond's place straightaway and can now move on to other signings. Another striker is a priority and then it depends on who else leaves.

Paddy Davitt on twitter believes the Canos deal includes a first refusal clause, rather than a set buyback price. So if we choose to sell then Liverpool get the option to match the offer we've accepted. He's firmly our player and Liverpool have no special ability to steal him back.

That would be great, DH! A buy-back clause would put us at a big disadvantage against a wealthy club like Liverpool.

I feel much better about the deal, now. Thanks for the post.

Tomas Kalas to Fulham on loan. Strange one, I was sure he'd join up with Boro again. I'd of taken a loan of him at City! Great Defender.

Not sure why a few on here were getting worked up about that.
It happens all the time when a decent young player moves on from a big club, it's simply as DH said a first refusal in case the player becomes good.
There are no contracts where a player is sold only to be bought back whenever the selling club feels like it.
If Canos is as good as we hope he can be then Liverpool will get first refusal but if someone bids higher he would go elsewhere.
The Tevez 3rd party ownership crap is banned too now I think.

No idea where he got his info, but a forest supporting colleague says that we have increased our bid for Britt to £10M. Not even Newsnow have anything about it though?

    Bah!

Totally bizarre if true. Why would we bid £10m now for a guy who missed most of last season with a potentially career threatening injury - but not for a fit and (semi) firing Benik Afobe when we had all those Premiership riches at our disposal? :emoticon-0112-wonde

McNally was here then, might have had summat to do with it ?

Although it is probably bullshit as it's Delia with the tight purse strings IMO <ok>

I've heard from a pretty reliable source that we had an offer accepted for Afobe and a few others in Jan and the deals didn't go through as we weren't prepare to pay big wages. Also it sounded like agents not wanting to deal with McNally was, in part, true. That may be why he left.

And, indirectly, a big chunk of why we got relegated. If your CEO is not giving the manager and coaching staff wholehearted support in all areas, then it ends up all pulling in different directions.

True 1950, but I was only alluding to his transfer negotiating, and as you can see from some posts above I am not the only one who has doubts.
