With that in mind what about us making a move to bring Ayala back? He's in the last year of his contract I think. He'd certainly add competition.

Nick Powell on a free to Wigan. Really good bit of business. I would have liked to see us take a punt on him on a free.

Ibe agrees terms with Bournemouth for the 15M move. Really surprised Liverpool would sell him, surprised Bournemouth are spending £15M. Although he has the potential to be an amazing player. AFCB have real ambition.

And real wealthy backers!

Bah!

"Norwich STEAL promising Spanish youngster" bleat the headlines.
I don't think £2.5m plus add-ons, so potentially up to £4.5m for a largely unproven 19 year old can be deemed 'theft'? <doh>
Their headline goes straight into my room 101. along with 'swoop', 'snapped up' and 'slammed shut' <grr>

And if it´s true that Liverpool have a ´buy back´clause in the deal, then it seems like a deal and no deal to me. Not quite sure what that sort of arrangement entails, but a 4 year deal with an option for an extra year isn´t really worth that much if Liverpool can take him back at any time. Would have preferred a 2 year deal with no ´buy back´ clause.

Pretty much agree Cromer - it's potentially quite a lot for a teenager who may or may not make the grade.
Now let's see some 'serious wedge' being spent on a striker and CB who will both improve the squad. <ok>

I am happy that we have signed someone, 25% of Redmond's fee and a Barca academy and Spain youth International.

I agree. More to the point he scored 7 goals and 8 assists in 18 starts and 20 sub appearances for struggling Brentford in the Championship last season - quite similar to Redmond when he first joined us at a similar price from Brum.

As for the rumoured 'buy-back' deal, I can't believe that would be any time Liverpool want, but rather if we were to consider selling him then they would have the first chance to buy him back. He has to be contracted to us by the rules (ie. no second party). Given that there is also rumoured to be a 'sell-on' clause this must be the case.

With him, we will have quite a 'team' of young, hungry players:

Matthews (GK), Toffolo (LB), Thompson (DM), McGrandles & Godfrey (CM), Canos & Jacob Murphy (WR), Josh Murphy (WL), Maddison (AM), Morris (S)

I hope Colney catering is up to it! ;)

He scored Brentford's goal of the season and became a regular starter from December onwards. The Brentford compilation:

He has also played as a forward, and it shows.

My question is, is he better than Josh Murphy?

Who knows. Looks a bit better with the ball at his feet but maybe not as quick.

It's not too relevant though as Josh is very much a left winger and Canos is more comfortable on the right, although he can play across an attacking midfield.

I really like that Were going for young players with potential. We have the experience in the team these are the sort of players we should be looking at.

Unfortunately all this wont mean anything as we have no1 who can help him develop! We saw Redmond's talent going to waste and his progress faltering... what will be different here? :-/
