There will be no election because we have just had one and the Tories won a majority. They have a mandate and will carry it out.
People are now moaning that after Brexit only 125K will choose the next PM, so what, tough luck! It is the way it's done, so get over it. I don't care how Labour picks a leader. Whether it is comedy Corbyn or the two-faced Eagle, i don't give a toss.
I will agree however that a leader needs to be in place ASAP so we can move on and get our country back up the rankings.

It's not about the way the Tory leader is picked, it's about her ability to govern if a number of her MPs decide not to vote with the government, particularly on Brexit conditions, which is a probability. The party's leave faction has done this for decades, there's a fully functioning role model for them. She doesn't want to stay in the single market, lots of Tory MPs do. She may be forced into an election, in order to gain a mandate to conduct the Brexit stuff on the terms she wants. Pretty sure the Tories would win though, unless the SNP starts contesting English seats. I reckon they would do rather well.

Britain First seem to have have decided that they are entitled to take a hand in the choice of our next Prime Minister and have come out for Leadsome. Another example of how racists and bigots have been emboldened and seem to feel legitimised by the Brexit vote.

I hope this gets plastered over all news outlets. It's exactly what every Conservative voter should be distancing themselves from.

If Leadsom wins she may find it impossible to govern with so few MPs support. That could force an election and God knows what we might get, both 'major' parties are 'fractured' by leaderships being governed beyond MP's control, it should be the choice of the MPs who are the ones working with the leaders...

It's not ordinary voters though Chaz, it's the blue-rinse brigade - she can win.

Little support from MPs and less support from the electorate - she could be very short-lived as PM, I would think. As you suggest though Sooper, an October general election could bring anything. Let's have it.

According to Leadsom's CV, she's already Prime Minster.

    Aythangyou.

There is something about Leadsom that I really don't like.

She seems both lightweight and nasty. Can't imagine even Johnson having to read from notes standing outside her house to denounce a clearly accurate interview in the Times. As the pressure mounts I think she'll melt and withdraw.

I actually think we may agree on more than you may think mate.
Maybe we could have a pint before a game sometime and find out eh?

I think you'll get along fine, as most not606's do, regardless of their views.

I won't shed a tear for the matador that has been gored to death in Spain. Bull fighting is now on the increase in Spain, and apparently it's on Spanish TV increasingly (the bullfight at which the matador died was being shown on live TV).

There is never a reprieve for the bull, even for one that sticks one of its torturers. Spaniards love this ritual slaughter and go in great numbers. I've no wish to be associated with such a vile practice, or the country that carries it out.

Was that one of your arguements for Brexit Goldie? If so that's the 1st one I do agree with.

Hadn't occurred to me at the time, Oslo, but there is relevance. I'm not an extreme animal activist and I admit I eat meat. I'm in favour of compassionate farming. Animal torture is beyond the pale. What does it do to the psyche of the population in whose name it is done, when you can turn on and watch it like Match of the Day - Live for entertainment on a Saturday afternoon?

As an aside Goldie, I notice that Leadsom wants to re-introduce fox hunting - well done love, why bother sorting this Brexit nonsense when there are important things to prioritise Parliament's time.

Now that is a simple black and white issue that deserves a referendum - not something as complex and multi-faceted like membership of the EU.

Rumour on the street is that Leadsom has quit - must've been my above critique
