Assuming United get Mkhitaryan and Pogba, in addition to Bailly and Ibrahimovic, they are going to be serious contenders next season in all competitions. Although they have wasted a lot of money since Fergie's left, it does seem like throwing money at a problem works eventually even if not straight away. We really need to start acting and fast because the season starts again in just over a month's time!
The fees this transfer Season are ****ing ridiculous. Mkhiraian £28 Million plus £6.3 Million signing on fee. At 200k a week. £35 Million for Mane??.. 15 goals last Season. Played well but hardly set the league alight. £30 Million for Ahmed Musa?? 13 goals in a poor Russian League. £33 Million for Michy Batshuayi? Makes bit more sense than the above but its a lot for a player who has never scored more than 20 goals in a Season.
By the way, it should come as no surprise that Mourinho in his press conference took several digs at Wenger and basically said that the issues at Chelsea last season weren't his fault... Quelle surprise... Hopefully Wenger doesn't rise to the bait. But I still don't understand his obsession with Wenger! Why does he keep targeting him unprovoked? It's just so bizarre.
Maybe they'll surprise us and have a real go but as it is I can't see us doing anything but fighting Liverpool and spurs for 4th next season
It's what Wenger and a few other people said - the more TV money/revenue you pump into the league/clubs then the higher the price goes for all the players and agents in terms of transfers, wages and fees across the board. So players that cost maybe £20m a few seasons ago now cost maybe 50% more or something (to pick a figure at random). It could even mean ticket prices going up instead of down to cope with the rise in wages... Effing ridiculous though, especially as you say that the players signed so far aren't WC class except for Ibra.
Oi... Obscene cost is only allowed to be used as an excuse for players we DON'T buy. For those we do spunk too much on, they're always worth it.
Not worth its own thread as it's a rumour, so best here. Arsene Wenger to manage England? The Football Association is seeking talks with Arsenal's 66-year-old manager to see if he is interested in taking charge of the Three Lions, according to the Daily Telegraph. The report claims Arsenal have drawn up a two-year extension to Wenger’s current contract, but the Frenchman’s view so far has been to wait to see how the Gunners start next season before making a decision on his future. Sounds like Wenger will sign another 2 year contract. I can't imagine the England job appealing much after their latest woeful showing. But at least he'll be used to all the media questions!
Hahaha. To be honest, it's best to get it out the way now and focus on Arsenal. I think we spent much too much time being Wenger out. He is not going to leave unless he chooses to, that is the bottom line.
Soo apparently Messi is considering moving from Barcelona after his recent tax evasion problems. Arsenal DNA of sure.
If manure are paying silly money for an over the hill Rooney, just imagine the money that Messi would command. The world is going crazy where a footballer earns more in one day than a nurse earns in a whole year plus!!!!
True but its all relative. We live in a weird society where a working class footballer earning 200k a week gets a lot of attention and criticism. A banker getting millions of pounds in bonuses and handouts barely raises any eyebrows though.
Soo Twitter is going Crazy with Higuain rumours. The rumour is Napoli want £60+m (WTF?) or Giroud plus cash. It's funny that we could have got him three years ago for around 30m. However the guy was absolutely sensational last Season and seems to be hitting his prime. Would be a big improvement on Olivier.
Current rumour 11... --------------------------Cech------------------------- Bellerin----Subotic-----Koscielny-----Monreal -------------Xhaka-------Ramsey/Carz----------- -----------------------Ozil----------------------------- --Draxler----------Higuian------------Sanchez--
As much as i'm not the biggest Giroud fan, he does offer us something that the rest don't. I wouldn't want to do a swap for him unless we had a similar player that we could bring in that will offer.
Hmm I like giroud but would swap him for Higuian in a heartbeat. In fact Higuain +30m is still a good deal. He's just that much better than the Frenchman. We need someone who can take advantage of all the chances we create.
