It's not too long ago that the BBC ran a similar survey showing that it was almost impossible to get to see PL football for less than £100 all in. They did it on average ticket price and threw in things like transport to the ground and a couple of pints in order to pad the numbers a bit. Just goes to show that journalists can use any set of numbers they like to make whatever point it is they want as I don't recall too many clubs announcing price decreases!

Does our cost represent value? Yes.

Oh and add in your petrol from Northampton or my flight from Glasgow and £30 wouldn't get us far eh!

Utterly pointless article by the BBC because it won't change a single thing. The prices are what they are. If people don't like them, don't pay them. As with buying any goods or services, it's supply & demand.

Some clubs know they can charge more because of where they are in the country and because they have the ability to fill their stadiums. Some clubs charge less because they can barely ever fill their stadiums.

Why people still buy programmes is beyond me. Can't understand buying crap food and drink in the ground either at inflated prices. But football clubs know many fans are mugs and they exploit their loyalty, not reward it.

I agree with this. I take sandwiches for my lad, however heroes like to read the program and collect them in a box at home. This year we have a season ticket so I'll be thinking hard about the program thing asthat does add up.

Ticket £540/20 (I miss 3 games) = £27 + £2 for son (£100 ticket) + half a tank of fuel £30 = £59/game if we buy nothing else. The program will make it £62, but I am happy and looking forward to being a season ticket holder again for the first time in 27 years. I don't begrudge the club the money, it's my choice.

It has been suggested that the BBC 's article is not factual based......that is true........My brothers cost's for watching a game. Around £1300 (without over night accommodation) My son's around £400 per game. (again with out accommodation) Needless to say neither get here that often to watch a game and they do not just come over for the big games either.
Seriously though which ever way you look at the BBC survey the one good thing to come out of it is "WE AIN'T THE MOST EXPENSIVE" as some of you thought when the ticket prices where announced.

All of those things in the list are expensive at every football club in reality. You have to travel to a non-league club to get those things at normal prices nowadays!

I'm just disappointed you can't get a rip-off Yorkie at St Marys anymore - who's idea was it to change that?! I don't want a Twix!

If we see ourselves as a 'big' club with ambition, we can't expect to be the cheapest. Quality is rarely cheap! Nice that we're not the dearest either. NC has probably pitched it right, but the proof is in results and gates.

As an old codger it costs me £18.04 per game with my season ticket. My bus pass gets me to the ground for free and Mrs Godders makes me a flask of bovril and a jam sandwich for half time so all in all a very cheap day out. I haven't bought a programme since the days of Rupert lowe and his cronies fleecing the club with bonuses and dividends.

Before you moan about our costs just have a moments sympathy for the neanderthals down the road. They only have half a football team and play in a cow shed and yet they have to pay more than us to watch a game.

Haha. You beat me to it! I was going to make a very similar comment!:emoticon-0110-tongu

I think you need to look at ticket prices, as you would the services of a lady of the night. Most people do not look for the cheapest hooker, but go for something a bit pricier, as at least they will give the impression they are enjoying themselves!
