If you say so. He missed over a third of the PL season in his final season with United. Redundant anyway as even Boro have cooled on their interest.
Austin has only appeared 5 times in the Premier League?!? Those 18 goals for DQPR and PotM awards are even more impressive then.
I'm bucking the trend here but I think he'll be a poor signing. Someone who refuses to play for the ressies is not somebody you want in a non- cosmopolitan area in a relegation battle come chilly February.
I don't think he'll refuse to play, as good as Dimi has been for them, they need quality and his experience will certainly bring that. Not to mention he was once one of the best goalkeepers in the world. His wages are probably pretty high, but it's a good indicator of the standard promoted clubs are going for. Meanwhile, we're looking at Hal Robson Kanu. Yay.
It might turn out to be a good deal, Ibe is an up and coming player. What's worrying is that we're sat here laughing at clubs for bidding large amounts of money for players, not really recognising that these players are pretty good and this is probably going to be the going rate for them. If the signings we make aren't of the same standard, how can we hope to compete? By constantly telling ourselves that our lads are good enough and hoping that's enough to make it so?
You'd rather us be in for players like Ibe, Van Persie & Valdes, but then doing absolutely nothing? Oh.
