As discussed earlier, Liverpool are looking to insert buy-back clauses into deals for departing players - and have insisted upon one for Sergi Canos.

The likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona have profited from this in the past.

Liverpool would have done as well.

Neither can Roae but he gets away with it because he has a DM to cover him when he's upfield and shuffles across to double up

First and foremost, I want a defender that can defend. Moreno isn't good enough :emoticon-0145-shake

I agree, yes the job of a DM is to cover the hole left by an attacking full back but quite simply Moreno makes many more mistakes than just going forward at the wrong moment.

Since Dietmar Hamann, we have not had a very good DM apart from Gerrard and Mash

Gerrard was a sloppy DM. World classing passing and vision, strong in a tackle, but to attack minded. He wasnt bad. A player of his level will perform in any poition. But as a DM he cannot he ranked along side Mascherano and Hamann.

Lucas had a brief stint as a top DM before a couple of serious injuries. Mo Sissoko was pretty decent to, though he did concede a lot of sloppy fouls, again, ruined by a nasty injury.

Gerrard isn't disciplined enough to play that DM role.

Lucas was quality just before he got that bad knee injury. Didn't have quite same mobility as masch but positioning was top notch.

Mash sh was just a didferent level, best DM jn world football

Gerrard pre ego was a decent real cm. He was put wide right by rafa then put acm cos he demanded it or he was off.

He basically like fabregas got pushed further and further up and didn't learn the position properly.

Imo alonso is the most under appreciated plater in the history of lfc. His actual talent and ability and now record has never been acknowledged properly.

If I were offered any of gerrard alonso mascherano back in their prime I'd pick alonso.... EVER time.

No disrespect to gerrard greatness either but he was not a cm in the cm role we are talking about.

Looks much of a coutinho type. Reviews on the net have him as better than modric and kovacic at that age. If he is anything close to that we have a gem on our hands

I actually don't think he will do that well and he'll just be another Kagawa (although i love shinji). Think the guy is too lightweight for our league.

@BobbyD he's a very good player and has experience. That Herrera may well be worth a punt from someone I have a feeling he'll be for sale at the right price, another cracking player.

    Wee bit strong that.

He's very good but not one of the very best. His impact may be more than kagawe but then again he might struggle. I'd put him at oscar not a ronaldo here.
